Lainey Wilson fails to impress fans with her performance at Thanksgiving halftime show: 'That was awful'

ARLINGTON, TEXAS: Lainey Wilson performed at the Thanksgiving Day game halftime show on Thursday, November 28, but failed to impress the fans. 

As an annual tradition, the Dallas Cowboys always play an afternoon home game during the last Thursday of November during Thanksgiving Week. Another tradition attached to the annual routine is the presence of a glamorous Thanksgiving Show during halftime. 

While Dolly Parton headlined last year’s halftime show, Lainey Wilson, 32, was chosen for this year’s event. Despite giving her best, some of the fans were left dissatisfied with the country singer’s performance.

As the annual tradition dictates, the Cowboys fans’ are treated with a noteworthy performance every year during their home team’s match at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, reported Us Weekly. 

As the Cowboys took on the New York Giants, Wilson took the stage to entertain the fans during halftime accompanied by another country star Jelly Roll. 

Though the music seemed insipid to many, the Thanksgiving match seemed to break a curse for the Cowboys as they registered their first win on their home ground this season on Thursday.

As Lainey Wilson performed at the Thanksgiving Halftime show, several fans were left unimpressed by her act. 

One of the social media users remembered Dolly Parton's last year's performance, asking, "Was Dolly Parton too busy this year?"

Someone else mused, "Great music for wanting to fall asleep while driving a car."

"That accent is cringe worthy 😣," criticized someone else. 

Another user noted, "Am I the only one thinking Lainey Wilson is quite a let down from Dolly Parton last year? I mean she isn’t bad but shouldn’t the NFL be trying to elevate or at least keep the brand at the same level? It’s a big gap from Dolly Parton to Lainey Wilson and Jelly Roll."

"What’s the equivalent of having two flat tires??! Having to hear these two sing..Also… can I get a side of earmuffs with my Turkey & dressing? 🦃," one user said while bashing the performance.

Someone else simply declared, "Stop. That was awful."
