WASHINGTON, DC: Fox News host Lara Trump praised Democratic Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania on Tuesday, November 11th, saying he reminds her of President Donald Trump

Fetterman made headlines a day earlier when he joined seven other Democrats to break with their party, end the filibuster, and help pass the Republicans’ spending bill.

Lara Trump hails John Fetterman

Lara Trump lauded Democratic Senator John Fetterman while speaking to Martha MacCallum on 'The Story with Martha MacCallum.' Lara, 43, began by saying it was refreshing to see a politician do what’s right.

“It’s so refreshing, Martha, to see there is someone like John Fetterman out there — a politician that does the right thing regardless of the pressure from his own party or a TV host like Sonny Hostin. They are getting aggressive with him as well,” she said.

The president’s daughter-in-law then compared the senator to Trump, saying, “He reminds me of someone else I know — his name is Donald J. Trump. This is what people love.”

Lara praised Fetterman for being a Democratic senator who sided with Republicans during the filibuster showdown. “They love authenticity and someone who’s willing to stand up and fight for the right things. And you’re right, John Fetterman voted every single time with Republicans to reopen and fund the government.”

She recalled, “When I sat down with him for an interview for my show, he said he never agrees with shutting down the government, no matter who’s at fault.”

Lara added, “It’s really nice to have John Fetterman out there, who at one time many saw as far left. He’s now the most common-sense voice in the Democrat Party — and it’s refreshing to see him stay that way.”

She concluded, “I would say John Fetterman has a lot more in common with Donald Trump right now than he does with most in his own party.” Lara also advised Democrats, “If you want to win anyone back who has left, start acting more like John Fetterman.”

Since winning his Senate seat in 2022 as a self-described progressive, John Fetterman has shifted right on several major issues. He has strongly backed Israel, called for tighter border security, and criticized fellow Democrats for their harsh tone toward Republicans after the Charlie Kirk death.

Fetterman’s recent stances have frustrated many Democrats but earned praise from Republicans, prompting speculation that he might switch parties before his next election. In a Fox News interview in September, Fetterman dismissed those rumors, saying he had no plans to join the GOP.

Reports suggest that Democratic leaders are already preparing for a possible 2028 primary challenge against him. Representatives Brendan Boyle and Chris Deluzio, along with former Congressman Conor Lamb, are seen as likely contenders for his seat.

Fetterman, who suffered a stroke during his 2022 campaign, has faced ongoing scrutiny over his health. He brushed off a New York Magazine piece questioning his fitness to serve, calling it a “hit piece."
