WASHINGTON, DC: Fox News anchor Laura Ingraham sharply criticized California Governor Gavin Newsom on Thursday night, August 28, warning that his escalating attacks on President Donald Trump could incite “deranged” individuals to attempt violence against the president.

Newsom, who is widely seen as a likely 2028 Democratic presidential hopeful, has increasingly sharpened his tone against Trump.

Laura Ingraham pushes back on Donald Trump's ‘third term’ claim

The California Governor has adopted the president’s trademark all-caps posting style on social media, while also portraying Trump as an authoritarian figure who poses a danger to American democracy.

On 'The Ingraham Angle', the host aired multiple clips of Newsom’s recent speeches.

One clip featured the governor warning that Trump’s costly White House renovations signaled he might intend to overstay his term. “I don’t think Donald Trump wants another election,” Newsom said. “I have two dozen ‘Trump 2028’ hats his folks keep sending me. Who spends $200 million on a ballroom at their home and then leaves the house? This is serious, guys.”

Ingraham countered Newsom’s suggestion, telling her viewers that Trump was joking about serving beyond two terms. To illustrate, she played a clip of the president clarifying that the new White House ballroom would be left for future leaders.

“Did you hear what he said? We’ll be leaving it,” Ingraham emphasized. “The president was clear. And any claim to the contrary is just ludicrous, laughable.”

The Fox News host also showed another segment of Newsom’s remarks, in which he declared, “We’re losing this country in real time. This is not bloviation. This is not exaggeration. It’s happening. You don’t get a do-over… The rule of law is being replaced with the rule of Don, period, full stop.”

To this, Ingraham responded with skepticism, saying, “If he really believed Trump planned to remain in office and cancel the 2028 election, why did he already hire top political consultants for his own 2028 run? It would be silly to spend all that money. Of course, this makes no sense, except it does because he doesn’t believe it himself.”

Laura Ingraham says Gavin Newsom’s rhetoric could inspire violence

While dismissing Gavin Newsom’s warnings as disingenuous, Laura Ingraham turned to what she called the more serious consequence of his rhetoric.

She noted the recent history of violent threats against Trump, including two assassination attempts and a manifesto from a Minneapolis man who fantasized about killing the president.

“If deranged people take Gavin at his word, it’s kind of predictable that someone could try to stop Trump’s presidency by any means necessary — including deadly force,” Ingraham warned. “But Newsom doesn’t care. So, the lies, they just don’t stop.”

Gavin Newsom hits back, declaring himself ‘America’s favorite governor’

Gavin Newsom escalated his feud with Fox News host Laura Ingraham after she warned that his rhetoric against President Donald Trump could inspire “deranged people” to attempt another assassination plot.

Newsom wasted no time firing back in his signature all-caps parody style, taking to social media Friday morning with a blistering response that mocked Ingraham personally while defending his attacks on Trump.

“LAURA ‘LOW RATINGS’ INGRAHAM ON FOX HAS A TERRIBLE CASE OF NEWSOM DERANGEMENT SYNDROME (NDS!),” Newsom wrote. “THE AMERICAN PEOPLE LOVE ME, GAVIN C. NEWSOM, AMERICA’S FAVORITE GOVERNOR!!! FOX SHOULD CANCEL LAURA IMMEDIATELY — OR FACE HUGE ‘CONSEQUENCES!!!’ THANK YOU! — GCN.”

The governor’s post is the latest in a string of satirical takedowns aimed at Trump and his allies. His press office has increasingly mimicked the president’s bombastic online style, complete with exaggerated nicknames, all-caps proclamations, and tongue-in-cheek boasts.
