LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Lauren Sanchez made a striking impression at last year’s Met Gala, but only after a firm push from Vogue’s Anna Wintour. Notably, Sanchez was allegedly warned she’d be banned from the event unless Wintour approved her dress.

The longtime partner of Jeff Bezos was reportedly told that her invitation depended on Wintour’s approval of her outfit, due to past criticism of her bold fashion choices.

The 2024 gala, themed "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion" with a dress code titled "The Garden of Time," drew inspiration from JG Ballard’s 1962 short story — and Sanchez made sure to dress the part.

According to a report by the Irish Star, Anna Wintour reportedly stepped in to help Lauren Sanchez secure the right look for her debut at the 2024 Met Gala.

Gossip columnist Amy Odell noted that Wintour, who rarely gets directly involved in styling guests, made an exception in Sanchez’s case — allegedly reviewing custom dress options with her. Given Sanchez’s controversial fashion history, it appeared Wintour’s influence was felt in the final result.

Sanchez made her grand entrance in a stunning Oscar de la Renta gown featuring a romantic sweetheart neckline and a dramatic ballgown skirt covered in white rose motifs, transitioning from a black bodice.

As reported by The Mirror, her look stood out for all the right reasons and marked a clear departure from her previously criticized style choices.

Earlier that year, Sanchez had sparked backlash with a revealing sheer black dress, prompting harsh commentary — most notably from Megyn Kelly, who remarked that Sanchez “looked like a hooker” and urged her to “try to be a little classy.”

But at the Met Gala, Sanchez’s transformation earned widespread praise.

Her elegant appearance stood in contrast to some of the night’s more provocative ensembles. Doja Cat drew attention — and criticism — for showing up in just a towel before changing into a wet T-shirt, while Rita Ora wore little more than beads, drawing comparisons to Bianca Censori, Kanye West’s current partner.

In comparison, Sanchez’s refined look earned her newfound respect on one of fashion’s biggest nights.

According to reports, Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez will be skipping the 2025 Met Gala — and for a pretty understandable reason.

As revealed by Page Six, the couple is in the middle of planning their extravagant wedding, which is set to be a glamorous, star-studded three-day celebration in Venice, Italy this June.

This news also clears up recent speculation that the pair had already tied the knot in a secret Colorado ceremony back in November 2024.

Even without the high-profile couple in attendance, the 2025 Met Gala promises plenty of star power and iconic fashion moments. This year’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” celebrates the art of Black fashion and tailoring.

According to Vogue, the event will be hosted by a powerful lineup that includes Oscar-nominated actor Colman Domingo, Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton, Grammy-nominated rapper A$AP Rocky, Grammy winner Pharrell Williams, and, as always, Vogue’s editor-in-chief and Met Gala mainstay, Wintour.

While Wintour is a confirmed invitee, it remains unclear whether any of the celebrity co-chairs will also be among the exclusive guest list for the Bezos-Sanchez wedding.
