Lenny Kravitz nears a decade on his 20-year celibacy vow, says will only break it when he finds next wife
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Lenny Kravitz has always been a man of his word, and his commitment to celibacy, pledged nearly two decades ago, is no exception.
In a recent interview with The Guardian published on Thursday, May 30, the 60-year-old rock icon confirmed that he remains steadfast in his vow to abstain from sex until he finds his soulmate.
Lenny Kravitz upholds 20-year celibacy vow
Kravitz first delved into the topic of sex while discussing his father's infidelities, which he detailed in his 2020 memoir. "He became right," Kravitz admitted. "After my marriage, I became more like him. I was becoming a player. I didn’t like it. I didn’t want to be that guy. So I had to tackle that and it took years."
Kravitz was married to actress Lisa Bonet from 1987 to 1993, and they have a daughter named Zoe together.
Reflecting on his past, Kravitz explained that he changed his ways by "taking responsibility" and "not letting my own desires take over," ultimately leading to his celibacy vow in 2005.
He shared with Maxim back then, "It’s just a promise I made until I get married. Where I’m at in life, the women have got to come with something else, not just the body, but the mind and spirit."
Nearly 20 years later, Kravitz confirmed to The Guardian that he has remained celibate, a commitment he describes as "a spiritual thing."
Kravitz has recently released his latest album titled 'Blue Electric Light' on May 24. Alongside his musical endeavors, he has been prioritizing his fitness and spirituality.
In an interview with Billboard, he shared, "Exercising and retaining my faith in God and God’s plan for me. Exercising faith, patience, all the things that I learned growing up. If something is really yours and meant to be yours, you will have it — that takes faith, you know. All these virtues that I learned growing up – building on a strong foundation, no shortcuts – ring true to this day."
