Leonardo DiCaprio distances himself from Diddy as White Party image resurfaces amid rapper's arrest

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Leonardo DiCaprio is the latest celebrity who has found himself embroiled in Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ racketeering conspiracy because of his past connections with the rapper. 

However, a source close to the ‘Titanic’ actor recently claimed to Daily Mail that DiCaprio has “not been in contact” with Diddy for years.

Recently, old photos of the Oscar-winning actor have resurfaced online while he could be seen having a gala time with the ‘Coming Home’ rapper during his White Party in 1998.

Though the resurfaced picture of the Bad Boy Records founder and DiCaprio from the 1998 White Party paints the picture of a close friendship, the source speaking to the outlet claimed otherwise. 

“Leonardo DiCaprio has absolutely nothing to do with any of this,” the source claimed, before adding, “He attended a few of his parties back in the early 2000s - but literally everyone did.”

However, the source denied the parties being anything other than normal get-togethers of the Hollywood elites. 

“They were big house parties. Leo was at the start of his career at the time and has moved way past his partying,” explained the source. 

The insider emphasized again, “He has nothing to do with any of that world, so for anyone to assume that he will get roped into this based on a few grainy photos that are more than 20 years old is ridiculous.”

“Leo is focused on his career and his relationship and is not at all thinking about Diddy's federal case, which he has nothing to do with,” concluded the source close to ‘The Great Gatsby’ actor. 

Apart from the 1998 White Party picture, DiCaprio was photographed together in public at the 2004 Democratic National Convention. 

Per Daily Mail, another photo from 2000 White Party shows DiCaprio beside Diddy who was holding a champagne bottle. 

Moreover, the ‘Inception’ star was seen partying with Diddy during the rapper’s mega birthday bash on his 50th birthday in 2019. 

During his appearance at 73 Questions with Vogue in 2018, the ‘Last Night’ rapper claimed Leonardo DiCaprio was the number one person on his White Party invitation list.

Diddy’s White Parties became a rage in Hollywood during the turn of the millennium with the first one organized during the Labor Day holiday in 1998 in Hamptons. Diddy hosted the parties for more than a decade until the last party took place in 2009 in Los Angeles. 

Last week, the rapper was arrested under the charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges among other and is currently being detained at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, per Mirror. 

Internet doesn't buy claim of Leonardo DiCaprio not knowing anything about Diddy's parties

Though the insider claimed that DiCaprio has distanced himself from the disgraced rapper, the netizens are not buying it. The social media users pointed out that despite the claim of the 'Killers of the Flower Moon' actor not keeping in touch with Diddy for years, he was present at Diddy's 50th birthday. 

One of the readers commented online, "So all the PR stunts from the celebrities begin. If these people distanced themselves over things they saw they didn’t want to be part of then they are just as bad for not speaking out."

"His "source" may want to know Leo did not stop attending Comb's parties over 20 years ago. There's video of him dancing at one of his parties from 2019. Due diligence is your friend," chimed in the third. 

Another user noted, "Yet only in 2019 he was partying at the guys 50th? Leo Looks pretty relaxed and happy at that party."

"But he attended his 50th birthday just a few years ago. Hardly not a friend," reminded someone else. 

Another user said, "He's blown his image. It was never great, but his connection to Combs will come out."

Someone else said, "You’ve not been involved “for years” doesn’t mean you didn’t do bad things."

"Puff's parties have been going on for decades. Good luck trying to distance yourself when you were actually there," castigated another. 

Someone else said, not without sarcasm, "First rule of thumb is deny, deny, deny."

"You really should not be surprise, he is not just trying to distance himself unfortunately for him it will not work," warned another.
