Liam Payne's GF Kate Cassidy feels singer 'could have been saved' after watching 'painful' CCTV footage
BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA: Kate Cassidy, the girlfriend of late One Direction star Liam Payne, is grappling with the heartache caused by the release of CCTV footage capturing Payne’s tragic final moments.
Payne, 31, died in October after falling from the third floor of the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, as reported by The Mirror.
Liam Payne’s girlfriend expresses heartbreak over 'painful' CCTV footage
“Whenever it seems it can’t get more painful for Kate, it gets even more painful,” an insider shared. “He could have been saved, he could have been helped. It’s devastating — and infuriating.”
The footage shows Payne being carried through the hotel lobby by three men, described as visibly unconscious, as concerned onlookers watched.
Hotel staff had reportedly called emergency services earlier that evening, stating, “We have a guest who is allegedly high and drunk. When he is conscious, he is destroying his room, and we need you to send someone urgently because I don’t know if his life is in danger.”
Staff also expressed concerns about Payne potentially harming himself due to the room’s balcony.
The footage forms part of the 800 hours of video authorities are analyzing, alongside interviews with hotel staff, family, and friends. The findings from the ongoing investigation revealed that Payne had drugs in his system, including crack and “pink cocaine.”
His formal cause of death, however, was ruled as the impact of his fatal fall.
Payne’s behavior earlier in the evening, including erratic actions like smashing his laptop, has been cited as contributing to the hotel’s call for immediate intervention.
The tragedy occurred just days after Kate returned to Florida, leaving Payne in Argentina. The couple had traveled together to support Payne’s former One Direction bandmate, Niall Horan, during a solo show, with plans to extend their trip into a vacation.

Kate Cassidy attended Liam Payne’s funeral in the UK, held on November 20, where family, friends, and former bandmates gathered to pay their respects. Since his death, Kate has shared a heartfelt message online, asking for privacy during her grieving process.
“Thank you for all the kind words and love that has been sent my way. I have been at a complete loss. Nothing about the past few days has felt real. I ask and pray that you'll give me the grace and space to navigate this in private.”

As investigators work to piece together the events leading to Payne’s death, scrutiny has fallen on those closest to him, including Rogelio “Roger” Nores, a close friend who denies being Payne’s manager.
Authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding his behavior, the response from the hotel, and whether more could have been done to intervene.
