Liam Payne's medical cause of death revealed three months after fatal balcony fall
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Liam Payne’s tragic death has been officially confirmed as “polytrauma,” a medical term indicating multiple traumatic injuries, following his fatal fall from a Buenos Aires hotel balcony on October 16, 2024.
The UK inquest, held three months after the incident, provided this revelation amid ongoing investigations in Argentina, according to Daily Mail.
Charges filed in Liam Payne's case in Argentina
Payne was staying at the Casa Sur Hotel when he fell from the third-floor balcony after reportedly relapsing into substance abuse.
Five individuals face charges related to Payne’s death, including hotel manager Gilda Martin, receptionist Esteban Grassi, and Payne’s friend Roger Nores, all accused of manslaughter, as per Argentina's National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor's Office.
According to court documents, Nores is accused of abandoning Payne "to his luck knowing that he was incapable of fending for himself and knowing that he [Liam] suffered from multiple addictions."
Two others, hotel employee Ezequiel Pereyra and waiter Braian Paiz, are charged with supplying drugs.
Argentina's National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor's Office continues to investigate the case, seeking to uncover the events leading to Payne’s fatal fall.
Inside Liam Payne's tragic fatal fall
Reports suggest Liam Payne consumed alcohol and drugs before his death.
Witnesses described him acting erratically in the hotel lobby before being escorted to his room.
When officers arrived at the scene, his hotel room was found in complete disarray, with the television smashed and drug paraphernalia scattered throughout the space.
The 31-year-old singer is believed to have accidentally fallen after becoming unconscious.
During the inquest hearing, Senior Coroner Crispin Butler stated, “Whilst there are ongoing investigations in Argentina into the circumstances of Liam‘s death, over which I have no legal jurisdiction, it is anticipated that procuring the relevant information to address particularly how Liam came by his death may take some time through the formal channel of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.”
