The Sun reported that it had heard unreleased tracks from the album, revealing that Payne expressed feelings of having "no way out" in one of the songs.

In one unreleased song, he sang over upbeat automated sounds, expressing, "Everyone is talking. I can’t process this now; I got no way out, no way out."

Speaking to the Sun, a source revealed, "Liam was always working on songs on his laptop and was in the process of setting up a home studio in Miami but the record was essentially done. Most of the tracks were heard by the label and played to his team."

"Lyrically it’s heavy but Liam was really proud of it and was keen to open up so others going through similar things didn’t feel alone," the source added.

While discussing the album in March, Payne said, "Every one of these songs is a story from my life. For the first time, you really get a picture of what it was like for me each day of making this record like this. This album is literally this last year for me, how I was feeling on those days is each record."

Liam Payne was 'making an album for a change' before his tragic death

According to reports, Liam Payne delayed the release of his second solo album because he was "struggling" in the business before his tragic death on Wednesday after falling from a hotel balcony.

An insider revealed that Payne was "doing really well on his second album," initially titled 'Teardrops', but eventually decided to put the project "completely on pause."

A documentary focusing on Payne's "struggle with growing up in the spotlight" has also been postponed, as per the New York Post.

In a May 2023 interview with iFL TV, the father of one discussed writing his most personal songs to date, revealing that he had been in a treatment center the previous year and was 100 days sober at the time.

Regarding his upcoming second album, he revealed at the time, "I’ve been making an album for a change, which is quite fun. It’s been good, I’m excited to bring it out, and I definitely want to tour this time."

"I was kind of over it a little bit. But I’m really excited to get back out on the road and go and see all the fans," he added.

After One Direction's breakup in 2015, Payne embarked on a solo career, which he has frequently acknowledged was challenging due to mental health struggles.

In December 2019, he released his debut album, 'LP1', marking his first break as a solo artist. 'Teardrops' was Payne’s first solo in three years, since 2021’s 'Sunshine'.
