A representative for Lil Tay confirmed to Daily Mail that "this isn't a hoax" and emphasized it is not related to the previous year's incident where her death was falsely reported.

Shortly after, fans were updated about the influencer's health with a tweet reading, "Tay has been diagnosed with a life threatening heart tumor. We ask kindly for everyone’s love and prayers."
