WASHINGTON, DC: Senator Lindsey Graham found himself at the center of controversy after sidestepping questions about former President Donald Trump's false claims during the recent presidential debate, as per The Hill.

The incident, which took place during an interview on CNN’s 'State of the Union', sparked widespread trolling and criticism on social media. CNN’s Dana Bash questioned Graham on why he wasn’t troubled by Trump's numerous false statements during the debate.

Instead of directly addressing the issue, Graham focused on Trump’s overall performance and criticized President Joe Biden.

"Well, I thought he had a very good night. People who watched the debate thought the same thing, too. At the end of the day, he was strong, he was clear, he was coherent. But this idea that Biden had a bad night, that’s not the story. He’s had a bad presidency, had a disastrous debate," he told Bash.

Graham went on to argue that the media has been too lenient with Biden, citing recent editorials from The New York Times and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that called for Biden to step down from the race.

He stated, "The man is compromised, and the media has been covering. The policies of his administration are destroying the country. And The New York Times and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution [want] him out, but they think he’s a good president. He’s not a good president. He’s a decent man. He’s a failed president. He is compromised. That’s the storyline here."

During the same interview, Graham issued a stark warning to Democrats regarding potential retribution over Trump’s ongoing criminal cases. "The Democrats keep calling President Trump a felon. Well, be careful what you wish for. I expect there will be an investigation of Biden’s criminality at the border," he remarked.

In May, Trump was found guilty on all 34 counts of falsifying business records in a historic criminal hush money trial involving adult film star Stormy Daniels and attempts to influence the 2016 presidential elections.

Graham suggested that political prosecutions could set a dangerous precedent, leading to further investigations.

"This country is going to have a reset here and using [Joe] Biden’s standard of glorifying political prosecutions, a Pandora’s box has been opened. Whether he steps down or not, accountability is coming to him," he expressed.

When Bash pointed out that Graham seemed to be warning of retribution, he confirmed, "Yeah. I warned that the Pandora’s box opened by the Democrats is going to be applied here."
