WASHINGTON, DC: A lip reader just spilled the tea on what President Donald Trump whispered to French President Emmanuel Macron moments before a surprise meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at Pope Francis’ funeral.

Trump and Zelensky finally crossed paths again—for the first time since their explosive White House showdown—right before bidding farewell to the late pontiff.

The setting at St Peter’s Basilica was surreal. The two leaders pulled up chairs in the hallowed church to have a one-on-one sit-down. Cameras snapped them surrounded by French President Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, as the scene was being set for their impromptu meeting.

Pope Francis died on April 21st at the age of 88. Born in Argentina as Jorge Mario Bergoglio, he was the first Latin American and the first Jesuit to become Pope when elected in 2013. Taking the name Francis after St Francis of Assisi, he promoted a more humble version of the papacy than many of his predecessors. Donald Trump pulls Emmanuel Macron aside with frosty message

One particular moment really stood out. Emmanuel Macron went in for a warm embrace with Volodymyr Zelensky. Trump subsequently pulled the French president aside and issued a chilly warning, according to professional lip reader Nicola Hickling.

Hickling told The Sun, "Donald reaches his hands out to both of them and brings them towards him. He says to Macron, 'You are not in the right here, I need you to do me a favor, you should not be here.' Zelensky nods in agreement, and the vicar, who is in front of the camera, turns his head to the side, looking worried at what he has heard between them."

Since Trump stepped back into the White House in January, his relationships with European leaders have been rocky. One major sticking point has been Ukraine. Washington under Trump’s second act has been nudging Ukraine to hand over Crimea (and other Russian-occupied territories) in exchange for peace.

But Zelensky isn’t budging. He insists that Crimea was part of Ukraine for 23 years before Russia snatched it—and accepting that loss would straight-up "violate" Ukraine’s constitution.

Instead, Zelensky now wants Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the fighting unconditionally, Metro reported.

Volodymyr Zelensky and Donald Trump’s one-on-one

The lip reader also analyzed the footage of the Trump-Zelensky secret summit and caught the Ukrainian leader telling his US counterpart, "I would like you to do that, but not this way."

To which, Trump replied, "It's a very interesting strategy. You have reassurance."

Following the emotional gathering, Zelensky took to social media to thank Trump.

"We discussed a lot one-on-one. Hoping for results on everything we covered. Protecting lives of our people. Full and unconditional ceasefire. Reliable and lasting peace that will prevent another war from breaking out. Very symbolic meeting that has potential to become historic, if we achieve joint results. Thank you @POTUS," he wrote.

The White House was quick to call it a "very productive discussion" as well.

Donald Trump slams Vladimir Putin after Kyiv missile attack

The peace talks came hot on the heels of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s latest missile strikes on Kyiv, which left at least 12 people dead earlier this week.

That development rattled Trump, who blasted the Russian leader on Truth Social.

"There was no reason for Putin to be shooting missiles into civilian areas, cities, and towns, over the last few days. It makes me think that maybe he doesn’t want to stop the war, he’s just tapping me along, and has to be dealt with differently, through 'Banking' or 'Secondary Sanctions?' Too many people are dying!!!" he wrote.

Not too long ago, Trump had even branded Zelensky a major obstacle to peace in Ukraine.

Their fresh meeting marks the first time the two had spoken since their fiery Oval Office clash back in February—the one where Trump told Zelensky to leave the White House after accusing him of "gambling with World War Three."

But at Pope Francis' funeral, it seems the two world leaders decided to put their baggage aside, at least for the moment, in the name of peace.

Hundreds of foreign dignitaries, prime ministers, royals, and presidents gathered in the Vatican. Zelensky was met with a wave of applause from the crowd in a show of solidarity with Ukraine as he made his way to his seat in the square.
