LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Fans accused Lizzo, 36, of "copying" Lily-Rose Depp's character from HBO's 'The Idol' after she released a preview for her "new era" of music.

The 36-year-old 'Truth Hurts' singer posted a video of herself on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday afternoon, February 15, looking somewhat similar to Depp's character from HBO's 'The Idol.'

"Everything was so much simpler #LIRL," Lizzo wrote in the caption of the clip, which received mixed feedback. At the end was a note indicating that it would be released on February 28.

The GRAMMY winner displayed a variety of emotions and facial expressions in the new video, which included a high-energy flute melody playing in the background. Lizzo went from sobbing hysterically to laughing rhythmically.

The video acted as a teaser, as the pop diva (real name: Melissa Viviane Jefferson) has begun to usher in and inaugurate a new musical era ahead of what some have speculated may be a new album.

However, some fans noted in the comments section that the resemblances between the 'About Damn Time' singer and the clips of Depp's character were too striking.

Lizzo declared that she was bidding adieu to her 'Special' era following the release of the album in July 2022.

Despite receiving mixed reviews, 'Special' received nominations for both Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album at the 2023 65th Annual Grammy Awards, per Daily Mail.

During Friday's farewell to the era, the star left fans wondering with a mysterious, nostalgic post that suggested a new record was forthcoming.

"It’s the end of a very Special era," she wrote on Instagram, showcasing the 'Special' album cover art.

The 'Cuz I Love You' singer posted another shocking video of herself deliberately damaging the 'Special' album cover art. The artwork was displayed on a standing canvas in her backyard.
