LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Lizzo got deeply personal during her concert at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles on March 12, opening up about a period of severe depression in 2023.

The singer revealed that she was so heartbroken by the world that she did not want to live anymore as she told the crowd, "I named [my album] Love in Real Life because about a year and a half ago, it’s so hard for me to talk about. I was in such a dark, deep depression."

Lizzo's life-saving moment

The emotional revelation comes amid ongoing legal battles as Lizzo continues to face multiple lawsuits from former employees accusing her of misconduct, including allegations of racial harassment, according to People.

The singer has denied all claims. Lizzo described a transformative moment that helped her begin healing.

While attending a concert, she was feeling lost and afraid when a fan reached out to her.

"Somebody, who I didn’t know, looked at me and said, ‘Lizzo, I love you.’ And they reached out, and I reached back, and we hugged, and it felt so damn good," shared Lizzo.

She told the audience that the experience was "life-saving," emphasizing how genuine human connection cannot be replaced by social media validation.

"You can’t get this s**t on the internet, bro. This is the kind of love you can only get in real life," said the singer.

Lizzo encourages fans to reach out for support

Lizzo used her platform to send an important message about mental health, urging those struggling to seek support.

"If you’re depressed, reach out to someone who will listen. If you’re mad about the government, reach out to someone else who’s mad about the government and f*****g organize," she said.
