'Look at the size of her platforms': Internet not surprised as Liza Koshy takes a tumble at the Oscars

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Liza Koshy, the 27-year-old YouTuber-turned-actress, walked the red carpet of the recently concluded Oscars 2024 gracefully until she took a tumble that caused her to fall down.

The charming ‘Players’ star attended the 96th Oscars wearing a fitted red off-the-shoulder Marchesa gown that flared above the knee. She paired the ensemble with a pair of massive red platform heels of eight inches - which many fans deem to be the root cause of her fall.

The ‘Liza on Demand’ star, nevertheless, didn’t let her spirit get dimmed because of the fall. Rather she managed to lighten the situation by cracking jokes at herself and had quite a moment on the red carpet.

As a nearby photographer rushed to help her up, the social media star said, “That’s alright,” per New York Post.

She went on to quip, “It was a manhole,” before adding, “You saw that? Oh my god.”

Koshy continued to lighten the situation as she joked, “I’m joining a legendary group of women like J Law who fell on the carpet,” referring to Jennifer Lawrence’s iconic tripping on the 2014 Oscars red carpet.

The ‘Double Dare’ star further added, “I made a whole moment of it. I said, ‘Wait a minute. I’m not nominated. I’m not presenting. I gotta fall,'” and revealed that the carpet smelled like Dimoldenberg’s feet.

With the fall, Koshy joined a long list of stars who have previously experienced similar fates and managed to handle the situation with poise.

Internet was left divided by Liza Koshy's fall. While a majority of the social media users hailed her for maintaining her poise even after the fall, another group criticized her for the size of her heels.

One of the fans said, "I know she didn’t do that on purpose for a “moment”."

"Look at the size of her platforms, of course it happened," observed someone else.

"Hopefully, she wasn't hurt, and it must have been embarrassing for her," said another fan.

Someone else put forward the idea that she should have had a nice photosession before getting up and shied at the lost opportunity, "She should of had a cute moment posing on the ground before getting up 😭."

Someone else praised her spirit to  say, "I love how easily she brushed it off and how she turned it into a good thing."

Anothet social media user quipped, "This is the most Liza Koshy thing Liza Koshy could’ve done on a red carpet."

Another fan declared, "Huge heels with a huge dress is a daring combo! Tripping can happen to anyone, but LIZA handled it with grace. Liza Koshy on the #Oscars red carpet."

Some fans were, however, quick to blame her high heels for the gaffe, saying, "Why does she wear the big shoes under that gigantic dress?"

"I'm guessing that those shoes had something to do with it," added someone else.

Another fan added, "No shocker there. Look at those ridiculous shoes!"

Meanwhile, another social media user blamed her for chasing the clout, "She’ll do anything to get her name heard again."
