LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: The demsie of 'Rocky' star Carl Weathers has left a profound void in the hearts of his fans. However, during Super Bowl LVIII, when his advertisement aired with a modification, including a tribute by FanDuel, social media users were overwhelmed with emotions.

Following Weathers' death at the age of 76, numerous A-list celebrities stepped forward to mourn the loss of the actor. Adam Sandler, Weathers' co-star in 'Happy Gilmore', fondly remembered him as a "true great man" and a "legend".

Sylvester Stallone, Weathers' co-star in the 'Rocky' franchise, also shared an emotional video on Instagram. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Pedro Pascal also joined in paying tribute to the actor.

FanDuel alters Carl Weathers' Super Bowl ad to pay tribute to actor

According to the Daily Mail, FanDuel paid a touching tribute to the late Weathers in their Super Bowl commercial, which had to be adjusted following his passing.

The renowned 'Apollo Creed' actor peacefully passed away in his sleep on February 2. His death certificate cites atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease as the cause, listing his demise as natural.

Before his passing, Weathers had already filmed a Super Bowl ad for FanDuel alongside football legend Rob Gronkowski. The commercial concluded with an onscreen tribute next to Weathers, showing him with crossed arms and the words, "Thank You, Carl 1948-2024", as per Daily Mail.

FanDuel confirmed last week that they would modify the commercial in light of Weathers' death.

According to Daily Mail, in a statement, the company expressed, "We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Carl Weathers. Throughout his life, Carl was an iconic talent who had a profound impact on the people he worked with on and off the screen. FanDuel was fortunate to have had an opportunity to work with him during our Super Bowl campaign. We are adjusting our campaign accordingly out of respect for the family during their time of grief."

A sneak peek of the FanDuel ad, released three weeks ago, featured Gronkowski traversing the desert in his NFL uniform feeling a sense of regret over missing a betting opportunity during the previous year's Super Bowl, he decides to visit 'the land of second chances - Vegas.'

Weathers, appearing on a motorcycle beside Gronkowski, welcomes him into his sidecar with the words, "And this time, you won't miss. Get in."
