Per RadarOnline, the 79-year-old actor is planning to sell the property which he inherited after his mother’s death.
Danny Trejo plans to repay debts by selling his second property
While the ‘Breaking Bad’ star currently resides in a $1.2 million mansion in Mission Hills, California, he is planning to sell the second property.
He further informed the court that he would pay off $391K in debts to the IRS and California Franchise Tax Board. He said that while $307K will be paid to the IRS, $93K will be paid to the state.
The sale will also bring in a considerable amount of money for Trejo in his Chapter 11 filing.
What is Danny Trejo’s net worth?
Per Celebrity Net Worth, Danny Trejo’s net worth is $500K as of 2024. His main assets included his main house, his second property and a huge collection of cars.
Per RadarOnline, Trejo is the owner of a 1942 Chevrolet Master Deluxe, a 1976 Cadillac Seville 4D, a 1998 Cadillac Eldorado, a 2001 Cadillac Eldorado 2D, a 1961 Ford Truck, a 2006 Range Rover, a 1997 Cadillac Eldorado, a 2005 Ford Truck, a Harley Davidson motorcycle and a 2006 Mercedes Benz.
Danny Trejo filed for bankruptcy in 2023
In February 2023, Danny Trejo filed for Chapter 11 personal bankruptcy listing $2.2 million in assets and $3.6 million in liabilities. On the same day, in an interview with TMZ, he informed that the debt got accumulated mostly because of mistaken deductions.
Last year, Trejo and the IRS even reached an agreement that allowed the 'Desperado' actor to make four payments of $200,000 per year until early 2028 to repay his debts.
However, the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes last year allegedly put a hold in his income, causing him difficulty to repay the amount. It ultimately led him to think of selling his second property as he argued in his filing that it would help him make payments to IRS and Franchise Tax Board.
During a filing at that time, Trejo told the court, “The strikes have impacted my income in the near term.”
However, since the strikes have ended, his financial condition has gone better.
Initially, he listed his average monthly income as $165K and monthly expenses as $14K.
Trejo's successful restaurant business remains untouched with his Chapter 11 filing. He opened his first restaurant named Trejo's Tacos followed by Trejo's Cantina and Trejo's Coffee & Donuts in 2017.
The actor reportedly has been successful in saving his primary residence from the court battle. A judge is yet to approve the home sale.
