Madonna's Instagram post contained several photos of herself with her father throughout the years.
In the first two images, Ciccone can be seen receiving a warm hug from his daughter backstage at one of her events.
Other photos in the slideshow include a snapshot of the father-daughter pair together on stage earlier in her music career, a throwback family portrait (also featuring Madonna's late mother, Madonna Louise), and a vintage photo of Ciccone himself.
Madonna's caption for the post read, "To The O.G. Daddy—-Happy 93rd Birthday Silvio! Congratulations for riding the roller coaster of life with humor and sanity intact. Thank you for sharing your mantra in life with me: which is. 'Im Gonna Go until the Wheels fall off.' Nothing can stop us! Love you to the moon and back."
One of the pictures Madonna shared was from the time when she took five of her six children to visit her father at Ciccone Vineyard & Winery in Michigan in 2021 to celebrate his milestone 90th birthday.
During that visit, she reflected on her father's resilience growing up as an Italian immigrant in the US and overcoming various challenges through hard work, as per PEOPLE Magazine.
The 'Popular' singer expressed, "My father is a survivor growing up as an Italian Immigrant in the US and living thru many traumas but always working hard for everything he had, He taught me the importance of hard work and earning one's way in life."
Madonna's music career has been influenced by her parents
Madonna’s career has been profoundly influenced by her parents, as per PEOPLE Magazine.
The iconic 'Like a Virgin' singer was born to Madonna Louise and Ciccone on August 16, 1958, in Bay City, Michigan. Her parents had five other children: Anthony, Martin, Paula, Christopher, and Melanie.
Madonna's mother tragically died from breast cancer at the age of 30, an event she states fueled her ambition for stardom.
Her father, Ciccone, later remarried their housekeeper, Joan, and welcomed Madonna's youngest siblings, Mario and Jennifer, into the family.
Madonna hailed father Silvio Ciccone as her 'role model'
Describing herself as her "father’s favorite," Madonna hailed him as her "role model" in a 1985 interview with TIME. Reflecting on her childhood, she remarked, "I knew how to wrap him around my finger."
While talking about her relationship with her father, the pop star told Rolling Stone in 1989 that it had its ups and downs over the years but emphasized the enduring love at its core, noting, "Whenever I need him, he’s there for me."
She further delved into her deep affection for him in her 1990 memoir, 'Madonna: In Her Own Words', writing, "I have a million different feelings about my father, but mostly I love him to death. What’s difficult for my father is the idea that I don’t need him. But I do need him."
Madonna described her mother as an 'angelic person'
Madonna described her mother as a "forgiving, angelic person" while speaking to TIME.
She recalled her mother's strength, stating, "I remember also I knew she was sick for a long time with breast cancer, so she was very weak, but she would continue to go on and do the things she had to do. I know she tried to keep her feelings inside, her fear inside, and not let us know. She never complained."
Madonna acknowledged that this experience forced her to mature quickly, noting, “I think that made me grow up fast. I knew I could be either sad and weak and not in control or I could just take control and say it's going to get better."
During a Rolling Stone interview with the late Carrie Fisher in 1991, the 'Promise to Try' singer shared, "I've turned my need on to the world and said, 'OK, I don't have a mother to love me, I’m going to make the world love me."
