'Magical': Travis Kelce's mom shares first public reaction to his wedding with Taylor Swift

MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: Donna Kelce has shared her reaction to her son Travis Kelce and singer Taylor Swift’s lavish wedding at Madison Square Garden on Friday, July 3, describing the celebration in one word.

Speaking after the ceremony, the Kelce matriarch reflected on the high-profile event, which brought together more than 1,000 family members, friends, and celebrity guests. The couple’s wedding followed their engagement announcement after two years of dating.

“I really can’t say a heck of a lot except it was magical, man. Magical,” Donna said during an interview for Macy’s Fourth of July Celebration in New York City on Saturday night. She appeared overjoyed after watching the couple exchange vows in front of more than 1,000 guests the previous day.

Swift and Kelce reportedly required attendees to sign strict non-disclosure agreements and enforced a no-phone policy throughout the celebration. Despite the restrictions, some guests managed to take behind-the-scenes photos of themselves on a red-carpeted staircase before entering further into the venue.

According to her longtime publicist, Tree Paine, comedian and actor Adam Sandler officiated the ceremony. Kelce previously made a brief appearance in Sandler’s 2025 film, 'Happy Gilmore 2,' in which he wore only an apron while being covered in honey by Bad Bunny’s character, Oscar.

Jason Kelce served as Travis’s best man, while Swift’s brother, Austin Swift, was the man of honor. Paine also said the bride and groom wore Christian Dior Haute Couture outfits paired with Christian Louboutin shoes for the ceremony.

Madison Square Garden also acknowledged the wedding, with digital screens around the venue displaying the message, “JUST&T MARRIED!” The celebrations continued into the early hours of Saturday morning, with celebrities including actress Jessica Alba and her boyfriend, Danny Ramirez, joining the festivities.

Swift and Kelce began dating in 2023 and got engaged last August. The couple confirmed their engagement through Instagram, sharing photos from the proposal alongside the caption, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”

Kelce was photographed proposing in a garden, presenting Swift with an engagement ring featuring an old mine brilliant-cut diamond in a gold bezel setting. The ring was designed by Kelce with the help of Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry.

She celebrated the proposal by hugging and kissing her fiancé before the pair posed for photographs. He also coordinated their outfits for the occasion, with Swift wearing a blue Polo Ralph Lauren dress while he chose a navy cable-knit sweater from the same label.

The engagement announcement came two weeks after Swift appeared on Kelce’s 'New Heights' podcast for her first-ever podcast interview, during which she also announced her 12th album, 'The Life of a Showgirl.'

Before the engagement, speculation about the couple’s future had continued for months. In August 2024, NFL insider Adam Schefter drew attention during an appearance on NFL Live, when Laura Rutledge joked that Kelce had made a “Swift-adjacent” purchase.
