MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: Marc Maron called out Bill Maher during the latest episode of his 'WTF' podcast over the TV host's recent remarks about President Donald Trump's second administration.

Maron, who was interviewing CNN’s W Kamau Bell on the same episode, expressed his frustration with Maher for seemingly aligning with some of Trump’s policies, as per Variety.

Marc Maron slams Bill Maher for supporting Donald Trump

“Are you going to be like Bill Maher, you know, ‘I’m going to agree with some of the things that Trump is doing?’” Maron asked, before sharply adding, “It’s like, dude, you’re a b***h.”

He continued to mock Maher, highlighting his tendency to find common ground with Trump supporters.

Imitating Maher, Maron quipped, “I like Kid Rock.” He sarcastically added, “And now you’re gonna blow him with a slightly disdainful look on your face? That’s who you are?”

Maron's comments come as part of a broader criticism he has had for comedians who support or even entertain discussions with figures connected to the far-right.

His remarks echo previous criticism he directed toward Joe Rogan after Trump appeared on the 'The Joe Rogan Experience'.

Marc Maron slams comedians normalizing far-right views

Marc Maron has long been vocal about the dangers of normalizing extreme right-wing views.

Before the 2024 presidential election, Maron wrote a blog post condemning comedians with podcasts who engage with “shameless, self-proclaimed white supremacists and fascists.”

He argued that such appearances only served to normalize fascism.

“All it does is humanize and normalize fascism,” Maron explained in the post, stating that while he doesn't run a political show, his stand-up specials and podcasts have always made his stance clear.

He continued, “Even though I do not do a political show I have been very clear in my specials and on the podcast that I believe, and have believed for years, what is brewing in this country is an American fascist movement rooted half in grievance and half in Jesus and enabled by tech oligarchs and an inundation of propaganda from many sources.”

“Well, it’s fully percolated and pouring into the minds of all of us. It is shameless and proud. Culturally, the combination of blatant racist fearmongering and the anti-woke movement has delivered their message for the future. A future that marginalizes almost all voices.”

Be it writing on the blog, posting his stance on Instagram, or calling put Trump on the 'Tonight Show', Maron has consistently framed the rise of far-right ideologies as a dangerous shift in American culture, one that is driven largely by the comic community.

“The ‘anti-woke’ flank of the new fascism is being driven almost exclusively by comics, my peers,” he wrote.

He argued, "Whether or not they are self-serving or true believers in the new fascism is unimportant. They are of the movement. Whether they see themselves as acolytes or just comics doesn’t matter."

"Whether they are driven by the idea that what they are fighting for is a free speech issue or whether they are truly morally bankrupt racists doesn’t matter. They are part of the public face of a fascist political movement that seeks to destroy the democratic idea,” the podcast host added.
