Maren Morris admits to being bisexual months after splitting from ex-husband Ryan Hurd
PHOENIX, ARIZONA: Maren Morris, who has long been a strong advocate of queer and transgender people, has proudly come out as a bisexual during the Pride month. The country music star made the big announcement on her social media on June 9.
Taking to her Instagram, the 34-year-old songstress shared a carousel of her photos from her recent show in Arizona and captioned, "PHOENIX, AZ happy to be the B in LGBTQ+happy pride photos: @worldfamousmuriel.” The ‘Chasing After You’ singer’s announcement was met with unprecedented love and warmth as fans hailed her for coming out.

Maren Morris has been a vocal advocate of queer cause
Though Morris came out as bisexual, she has long been an advocate for the queer cause. During a 2022 interview with GLAAD for the LGBTQ media advocacy organization's annual #SpiritDay campaign, Morris shared that LGBTQ issues hit “closer to home” for her, per People.
Morris shared that during her childhood years in the local theater community of Arlington Texas, she came across several people identifying as gay. "It was just very normal," said Morris.
She explained, "It was just always a conversation in our household that we're all the same, and there is no 'us and you.' I think that being instilled in me from such an early age, particularly growing up in the south, was really important," and added, "I didn't realize how important it actually was until I got into my 20s and kind of solidified my adulthood and started working in country music."
Maren Morris and ex-husband Ryan Hurd split
Morris’s announcement came five months after the ‘Girl’ singer finalized her divorce with ex Ryan Hurd. The couple who got married in 2018, co-parent their son Hayes together.
She spoke about her divorce during an appearance at Howard Stern’s Sirius XM show. Referring to her new bob hairstyle, Morris declared in December 2023, "I cut all the trauma out of my hair," per OK! Magazine.
Though the former couple reached their divorce settlement in January 2024, they were separated for a year. Morris filed for divorce in October 2023. The songstress shared, "I think this year has — for a lot of people, not just me — a lot of people that are close to me have gone through it. I've known so many people that have gone through breakups or divorces."
Maren Morris receives warm welcome to the bisexual community
As soon as Morris came out, she received a warm welcome from the Bisexual community.
Musician Heather Mae could not hold her excitement saying, "Crying! So happy for you! Happy Pride, bb!."
"From seeing you as a closeted 16-year-old on the hero tour to being out and proud at 24 and seeing you doing the same. love you endlessly and happy pride!!" gushed a fan.
Musician Allison Ponthier too praised Morris as she chimed in, "HAPPY PRIDE!!!!! thanks for being an inspiration and what a special pride this one is."
Pentatonix and Superfruit musician Scott Hoying shared, "Love you so much Maren!!!!!!"
One of the social media users wrote, "Happy pride, an actual icon."
"AHHH MAREN IM SO PROUD OF YOU HAPPY PRIDE MONTH GIRLIE," noted another fan.
