ATLANTA, GEORGIA: Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has intensified her criticism of Israel’s military campaign in Gaza, openly calling it “genocide” and urging Americans to show compassion for Palestinian civilians.

Her stance marks a significant departure from most of her Republican colleagues, who have overwhelmingly backed Israel since the October 7, 2023, Hamas attacks.

Marjorie Taylor Greene issues emotional appeal for Gaza

In a lengthy X (formerly Twitter) post on Saturday, August 24, Marjorie Taylor Greene compared Gaza’s suffering to a hypothetical scenario in which the United States was bombed “day and night” in retaliation for actions taken by its government.

“If America was being bombed day and night because of something horrific our government did, and many innocent Americans and American children were being killed and traumatically injured, and we begged for mercy, but the rest of the world said, ‘Americans voted for their government so they deserve it, their government is bad so all Americans are bad, therefore this is what they get and must be done,’” she wrote.

She continued, “And the world was silent to our suffering. And no one came to our aid. And our cities and homes were bombed and turned to rubble. And our infrastructure was destroyed, no farms, no grocery stores, no more organized society. And no one helped our injured and hungry children. How would you feel? What would you think? What would you do?”

“This is what is happening to Gaza where, in spite of what we have all been told, many innocent people and children are being killed and they are not Hamas,” she added.

Greene stressed that civilians should not be punished for militants’ actions. “Does Hamas deserve it? Yes. Do innocent people and children deserve it? No,” she further said. “Is one type of innocent life worthy and another type of innocent life worth nothing?”

Greene’s post also highlighted the scale of US military assistance to Israel. Since the October 7 attacks, the US government has directed nearly $18 billion in aid to the country. Meanwhile, Gaza’s Health Ministry reports that more than 60,000 Palestinians have been killed since the start of the war.

“I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to pay for genocide in a foreign country against a foreign people for a foreign war that I had nothing to do with,” Greene concluded. “And I will not be silent about it.”

Laura Loomer pushes back over immigration concerns

Within 15 minutes of Marjorie Taylor Greene's post, far-right activist Laura Loomer lashed out at her, accusing the congresswoman of prioritizing Palestinian migrants over Americans.

“Why are you advocating for GAZANS to come to the US? How is Islamic immigration ‘America First’?” Loomer wrote on X.

Loomer has recently championed restrictions on Palestinians entering the US. Just last week, she praised the State Department for halting visitor visas for Gaza residents — even those seeking temporary entry for medical treatment. Her posts had circulated videos of children arriving for care through HEAL Palestine, a nonprofit that assists Palestinian families.

Visitor visas, according to the State Department, are non-immigrant permits allowing temporary entry for reasons such as medical treatment. Loomer argued their issuance undermines national security, despite growing reports of a humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.

According to the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification, more than 500,000 people in Gaza are facing famine conditions, including “starvation, destitution and death.”
