ROME, GEORGIA: Marjorie Taylor Greene recently revealed how her home was the target of a terrifying bomb threat — culminating in a rather unexpected tragedy.

On Monday, December 9, Greene said that local police had received an email about an explosive device supposedly planted in her mailbox. The email — traced to a Russian IP address — claimed the bomb was made “for Palestine.”

Bomb threat at Marjorie Taylor Greene's residence

The anonymous sender didn’t hold back on the details, writing that the contraption included “a 1×8 inch threaded galvanized pipe, end caps, a kitchen timer, some wires, metal clips, and homemade black powder.” According to the email, the bomb was rigged to go off over the weekend—or the next time someone dared to open her mailbox.

“I’ve constructed a pipe bomb, which I recently hid in Marjorie Taylor Greene’s mailbox,” the perp wrote. “It is set to go off during the weekend but it would also explode the next time anybody opens the mailbox.”

“Even if Marjorie does not open the mailbox herself I’m still satisfied with the prospect of some pig cops losing their lives or being injured,” wrote the alleged bomber, dripping with malice. They signed off with a provocative, “VIVA VIVA PALESTINA.”

The Rome Police Department didn’t waste any time, sending a bomb squad to Greene’s Georgia home to check things out. In a video Greene posted, an officer decked out in a full bomb suit can be seen running tests near her mailbox.

Thankfully, the bomb squad determined there was no active threat.

But Greene wasn’t about to let this slide. “Due to the international nature and severity of this threat, my office is collaborating closely with local and federal law enforcement, including the FBI, to ensure the perpetrator is brought to justice,” Greene said in a statement.

Tragedy strikes as police respond to bomb threat

As if the bomb threat itself wasn’t enough, tragedy struck during the response effort. A Rome police officer was involved in a fatal car accident on his way to join the bomb squad. The crash — which happened near Redmond Road and Walmart — killed an innocent woman named Tammie Pickelsimer and left the officer injured.

The police department later confirmed the heartbreaking news.

"On Monday December 9, a Rome Police Department officer was traveling in a personal vehicle en route to take his place with the Bomb Squad on a call.  This officer was involved in a traffic accident on Redmond Rd near Walmart which has created significant travel delays around the Norfolk Southern Railroad Tracks," they said.

Greene shared her devastation over the accident.

“I’m heartsick right now,” she wrote. “I was just informed that an innocent woman died today in an auto accident involving a member of the Rome Police bomb squad who was responding to the threat at my home.”

She didn’t mince words about the weight of these threats: “These violent political threats have fatal consequences. It’s an undue strain on our law enforcement who must treat them seriously. The officer was responding to protect my life. And now, a woman has lost her life because of this despicable act.”

Greene added, "My prayers are with Tammie Pickelsimer, her family, the officer who was injured, and the entire Rome Police Department."

Marjorie Taylor Greene has been swatted 9 times since her election to Congress

If this all sounds like deja vu, that’s because it’s not Marjorie Taylor Greene’s first time being targeted. She’s been swatted at least nine times since taking office. Swatting, for those who don’t know, is when someone makes a bogus emergency call to send police or a SWAT team to someone’s home.

She’s been vocal about how these incidents disrupt her life, even recalling how one swatting prank ruined her family’s Christmas last year.

And it’s not just her. Threats against members of Congress seem to be hitting an all-time high. In September, Rep Anna Paulina Luna revealed her office faced a “very serious shooting threat.” Over Thanksgiving, bomb threats targeted the homes of several House Democrats, including Reps Jim Himes, Joe Courtney, and John Larson, the New York Post reported.

After the bomb threat was neutralized, Greene thanked the Rome Police Department for their swift response. “I’m so grateful to every member of the Rome Police Department for your swift and professional response in ensuring my safety,” she said in her statement.
