WASHINGTON, DC: Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga) on Tuesday, December 16 defended her independence from President Donald Trump, asserting that her refusal to mirror his every word does not equate to disloyalty.

This comes after Trump called her a “traitor” for expressing support for a bill to shed light on Epstein-related secrets.

Greene stressed her continued loyalty to her constituents and "America First" agenda instead of a "cult-like" loyalty.

MTG rejects ‘cult’ mentality and Trump’s attacks on her

In a post on X, Greene addressed the growing divide between herself and the president, emphasizing that her legislative record remains overwhelmingly aligned with his platform despite recent insults. 

"I’m not in a cult! I supported President Trump and voted with him 98% of the time, but when it came down to supporting the victims of Jeffery Epstein, he called me a ‘traitor.’"

She added, “I was not elected to defend every letter and word of President Trump’s. I was sent to Washington to support the people of my great district and promote America First policies that this country overwhelmingly voted for in 2024."

Greene further criticized the president’s rhetoric by stating, "calling me a 'traitor' is not only childish and hurtful, but completely undermines the agenda Republicans fought so hard to work for."

MTG defends record after Trump’s viral ‘traitor’ attack

During an interview with Alex Jones, where Greene highlighted her support for the Epstein Files Transparency Act, she expressed frustration that her advocacy for survivors and government transparency resulted in the "traitor" label. 

She doubled down on her stance, stating, "I am not in a cult. People that think they have to defend every single letter or word or sentence of President Trump, If you think that's what you have to do, you are in a cult. I am not in a cult, I elected President Trump, I fought for him and put him in the White House and again I'll remind everybody I voted with him 98% of the time, put him in the White House because I believe in America first policies." 

Greene also spoke about her opposition to certain H-1B visas and federal moratoriums on AI, asserting her belief in state rights and economic reality over political optics.



MTG earlier blamed Trump’s rhetoric for dangerous threats

Earlier, Greene mentioned the dangers posed by the “Marjorie Traitor Greene” nickname used by the President, as evidenced by the death threats and pipe bomb threat to her home.

Greene stated that she feels "very sorry for the President Trump" despite the harsh insults, even as the rhetoric begins to target her family members. 

As she prepares to exit the legislative stage, she urged the public to "judge me by my actions not garbage on social media." 

This defense of her political legacy comes as she prepares for her final weeks in office, having officially announced her resignation from Congress effective January 5, 2026.
