Marjorie Taylor Greene slams Trump for ‘extremely unkind’ response to death threats against her son
WASHINGTON, DC: Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene tore into President Donald Trump on '60 Minutes' over his response to death threats against her and her son.
The Georgia firebrand criticized Trump for failing to stick to his own “America First” gospel and instead chasing foreign policy points while people back home were struggling financially.
“For an ‘America First’ president, the No 1 focus should have been domestic policy, and it wasn’t. And so, of course, I was critical, because those were my campaign promises,” Greene told Lesley Stahl. “Once we fix everything here, then fine, we’ll talk to the rest of the world.”

Lesley Stahl bluntly asked, “Are you MAGA?” “I am America First. ... MAGA is President Trump’s phrase. That’s his political policies,” Greene responded, adding that Trump can keep the slogan because, “I call myself America First.”
White House defends Trump record as GOP complains
According to NBC News, Republicans across Capitol Hill have been grumbling for weeks that President Donald Trump isn’t addressing the cost-of-living crisis across the country. The president, meanwhile, has been touting lower gas prices and recently signed an executive order aimed at targeting anti-competitive behavior in food supply chains.
The White House issued a statement Sunday night, with spokeswoman Abigail Jackson listing Trump’s achievements.
“In a short time, President Trump has already delivered on many of the promises he was elected to enact. He’s secured the border; tackled Biden’s inflation crisis; lowered drug prices; ended taxes on tips, overtime, and social security; cooled inflation; deported criminal illegal aliens; implemented important reforms putting American workers first; and more,” Jackson said.
“As the architect of the MAGA movement, President Trump will always put America First. Every single day, he’s working hard to continue fulfilling the many promises he made, and he will continue delivering,” she added.
Greene’s interview came just weeks after she stunned Washington by announcing she’ll resign in January, following her decision to sign a bipartisan discharge petition that forced the release of the government’s Jeffrey Epstein files.
When Greene complained to Trump that she was receiving death threats, he seemed to ignore her concerns. “I don’t think her life is in danger. I don’t think anybody cares about her," he said.

The congresswoman painted a picture of President Donald Trump’s priorities at the time.
“He did this in the same time span where President Trump brought in the Al Qaeda leader that was wanted by the US government, who is now the president of Syria. Then, within a week, he brought in the Crown Prince MBS, who m*rdered an American journalist,” Greene told '60 Minutes,' specifically calling out Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. “And then he brought in the newly elected Democrat socialist mayor of New York. That was the time span that he called me a traitor," she recalled.
Stahl asked whether Trump had effectively run her out of town. “No, not at all. I will be no one’s battered wife," Greene said, "and I won’t allow the system to abuse me anymore.”
She recounted a heated phone call in which Trump tried to pressure her to abandon the discharge petition effort.
“We did talk about the Epstein files, and he was extremely angry at me that I had signed the discharge petition to release the files,” she said. “I fully believe that those women deserve everything they’re asking. They’re asking for all of it to come out; they deserve it. And he was furious with me. He said it was going to hurt people.”
Greene didn’t budge, and neither did three other Republican holdouts. The bill passed the House with only one dissenting vote, sailed through the Senate unanimously, and Trump eventually signed it.
But while Trump didn't make a big show about the bill, Greene said he did plenty of damage behind the scenes, especially to her family’s safety. She said she sent Trump messages containing threats against her son. His replies were “extremely unkind," according to Greene. She revealed on X that Trump “responded with harsh accusatory replies and zero sympathy.”
Others were much kinder, she said. “I also sent these threats to [FBI] Director Kash Patel, and thankfully, he responded with ‘on it,’ and I sent these threats to Vice President JD Vance, who responded promptly with kindness and sympathy.”
Marjorie Taylor Greene denies any plans for 2028 run
Despite the MAGA fallout, the conspiracy theories, and nonstop speculation about her future, Greene insists the public feud with Trump isn’t some sort of audition tape for 2028.
“I have zero plans, zero desire to run for president. I would hate the Senate. I’m not running for governor,” she told Stahl. But apparently Washington’s gossip mill isn’t buying it.
“It doesn’t matter how many times I say it,” she said. “I’ll have face-to-face conversations with people, and I’ll flat-out tell them to their face, and they won’t believe me," she remarked.
“And they’re like, ‘Oh yeah, sure.’ Wink, wink. And I’m, like, I don’t know how to make it more clear," Greene added.
