LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Mark Withers, the actor best known for his roles in ‘Dynasty’, ‘Stranger Things’, and other TV shows, has died at the age of 77 after battling pancreatic cancer.

His daughter, Jessie Withers, told Variety that he died on November 22. She said, "He confronted his illness with the same strength and dignity he brought to his craft, creating a legacy of warmth, humor, and dedication, along with his remarkable ability to make every role unforgettable."

Jessie Withers added, "Mark’s enduring talent and commitment to the industry will be fondly remembered by colleagues, friends, and fans alike."

Long before he had a SAG card or starred in any shows, Mark was an accomplished athlete who earned an NCAA football scholarship to Penn State University, per the outlet.

He began his acting career starring in a national campaign for McDonald’s after he was discovered by an agent. He also acted in national spots for major brands like Folger’s Coffee, Irish Spring, Tartar Control Crest, and American Airlines.

Mark spent around 40 years in the television industry after landing his first role in the late 1970s. He worked in 'How the West Was Won' and 'Kaz'.

But he left a lasting impression in the role of Ted Dinard in the 1980s primetime soap 'Dynasty'. Apart from 'Dynasty', Mark played parts in other television series, including 'Magnum', 'PI', 'The Dukes of Hazard', 'Wonder Woman', 'Dallas' and 'Days of Our Lives'.

Mark was also seen in more recent TV series such as 'True Blood', 'Criminal Minds', 'Castle' and 'Stranger Things'. He last appeared onscreen in two movies released in 2019, according to IMDb.

According to Variety, in the early days of his career, an agent helped Mark get acting roles in advertisements for companies such as Folger’s Coffee, Tartar Control Crest, and American Airlines.

The late actor is survived by his wife, Haiyan Liu Withers, and his daughter. The actor's family has requested that any donations in his memory be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital, according to People.
