WASHINGTON, DC: Senator Marsha Blackburn is calling for an investigation into Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson for attending the Grammys, arguing the event was too political for a judge to attend.

Blackburn is concerned that Jackson’s presence at an award show filled with anti-ICE rhetoric makes her look biased.

Marsha Blackburn, on Thursday, February 5, sent a letter to Chief Justice John Roberts saying that Jackson’s behavior might violate the court’s rules.

Even though Jackson was there as a nominee for her audiobook version of her memoir, “Lovely One,” Blackburn noted that other guests wore "ICE Out" pins and used foul language toward immigration officials.

The Senator wrote that “while it is by no means unheard of or unusual for a Supreme Court justice to attend a public function, very rarely—if ever—have justices of our nation’s highest Court been present at an event at which attendees have amplified such far-left rhetoric.”

The Senator also used the moment to point out what she sees as an unfair double standard.

She mentioned how Democrats previously attacked conservative justices like Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas over their personal lives and vacations.

Blackburn argued that “Congressional Democrats and the legacy media have spent years smearing Republican-appointed Supreme Court justices as corrupt, partisan, and having engaged in conduct that violates the Court’s Code of Conduct,” and called those "public smear campaigns orchestrated by congressional Democrats" as “baseless and a pathetic attempt to influence the decision-making process of the Court.”

She claims that while the complaints against conservative judges were “meritless,” the questions surrounding Jackson’s attendance at the Grammys are a “serious” matter.

Marsha Blackburn demands probe to ensure impartiality

Since the Supreme Court is currently dealing with major cases involving President Trump, including a battle over birthright citizenship and expects to handle more immigration cases soon, Senator Blackburn and other critics are worried.

They argue that Justice Jackson’s presence at the event makes people wonder if she can truly stay neutral and fair when deciding these important issues.

Although Jackson usually votes with the liberal side, she has sometimes joined the conservative justices on specific issues.

However, Blackburn insists that an investigation is needed to ensure Jackson can “act at all times in a manner that promotes public confidence in the integrity and impartiality of the judiciary.”
