'Matchmaker' Ryan Reynolds setting pal Hugh Jackman up with low-key dates after Deborra-Lee Furness split

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Ryan Reynolds reportedly has been using his vast network of contacts to assist his co-star Hugh Jackman in finding love again following his divorce from his 27-year wife Deborra-Lee Furness in September 2023.

The pair announced that they were divorcing peacefully after 27 years of marriage back in September. The 47-year-old 'Deadpool' actor has been a constant source of support to Jackman during his split with Furness.

'Ryan has been there every step of the way with Hugh'

The men have been practically inseparable since the devastating divorce news emerged, and are currently filming the latest 'Deadpool' movie together.

Jackman, 55, was seen tagging along with Reynolds and his spouse Blake Lively while they watched a Kansas City Chiefs game in New Jersey, one week after the split was announced.

A close friend told the National Enquirer, "Ryan has been there every step of the way with Hugh as he goes through his divorce from Deborra-Lee Furness," as per Radar Online.

Reynolds is reportedly attempting to assist his friend, who had been married for close to 30 years, in taking a tentative step toward dating. According to a source close to the actor, "He wants to see Hugh happy again and has even suggested setting him up on a few low-key dates."

"He enjoys playing matchmaker. He knows Hugh well and knows what will make him happy. Plus, Ryan has everyone's phone number!" the source added.

The 'Greatest Showman' actor reportedly suffered extreme anguish following his split with Furness, with whom he has two children - Oscar, 23, and Ava, 18. Since being married in 1996, the pair had never separated for longer than two weeks before the divorce, which has not yet been officially finalized.

Although Jackman and Furness put up a united face, insiders claimed that the 'Wolverine' star was distraught by the ending of his marriage. The pair, who have since unfollowed one another on Instagram, initially met in 1995 when they co-starred in an Australian TV program.

In 2018, Jackman told TODAY, "I knew two weeks into meeting Deb that we were going to be together for the rest of our lives."

Although Jackman was initially alleged to be "totally lost" without his estranged wife, sources stated he has begun to turn his attention inward and venture into unexplored territory.
