LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Matt Damon and his wife Luciana are matching donations of up to $100,000 in an effort to support families who are struggling with medical expenditures.
This followed statements made by internet star Tommy Marcus and actress Kristen Bell that they had participated in the collection of funds for families facing significant medical expenditure, as reported by ABC7 News.
Matt Damon helps struggling families with medical bills
In an effort to support a cause initiated by actress Kristen Bell and Instagram star Tommy Marcus, also known online as Quentin Quarantino, Hollywood pair Matt Damon and his wife Luciana have pledged to match donations up to $100,000.
Marcus posts daily GoFundMe campaigns on his Instagram account to support the project. The goal of each fundraiser is to raise money to help families that are in dire need of financial assistance with medical expenses.
According to ABC 7, Damon's participation is anticipated to increase the effort's reach. Once a campaign hits the halfway point, Bell, Damon, and other donors assist cover the remaining amount.
The effort has already gained momentum owing to Marcus's endeavor to raise donations, and he is encouraging followers to "donate, share, and spread the word" to help other families.
The initiative started when Marcus contacted Bell about helping people impacted by exorbitant medical expenses, and the two then posted a call to action on Instagram.
However, what began as only asking Bell to share a single GoFundMe page turned into a more extensive charitable endeavor.
"To everyone in this community, and Kristen's: I truly believe this has the chance to be some of the most important and impactful work we've ever done," Marcus stated.
"Every dollar counts," as Marcus stated in his most recent piece before adding, "Having support from people like Kristen and Matt brings us closer to making a real difference."
The objective is to reach more families, lessen their financial load, and encourage others to take part in bringing about significant change as the campaign expands.

Kristen Bell and Tommy Marcus joined forces to raise money for families facing significant medical costs
In an Instagram post on December 30, the 44-year-old actress revealed that she is working with online celebrity Tommy Marcus to promote a single health-related GoFundMe page every day. YouTuber Doctor Mike is also taking part.
Kristen Bell joined the initiative early, contributing $100,000 at the end of 2024 to help people who are struggling with crippling medical bills. Marcus' call to action inspired Bell, who initially shared a single fundraising before taking the lead in the effort.
Marcus posted on Instagram, saying, "Kristen's support has been transformative. Her generosity has not only helped families directly but also inspired others to join this cause and turn it into a meaningful movement," per Enstarz.
Bell's contributions include roughly $25,000 for one youngster fighting leukemia and more than $20,000 for the care of another young sufferer. She has called the program something "the world needs," highlighting its transformative potential.
"Something needs to be done, and this is my something," Bell told People about taking part in the initiative.
The duo encouraged their nearly 17 million followers to "read every slide" in a series of screenshots from their direct message conversation about how to raise money for those in need.
Marcus and Bell exchanged more messages in the post, including one which stated that she would contribute the remaining funds to a campaign he previously posted on his Instagram Stories.
Bell promised to "do more" for people who are in extreme need of financial assistance. Marcus asserted to PEOPLE that he was surprised by Bell's level of support.
