Matthew Gaudreau's wife Madeline gives birth to baby boy 4 months after his death

OLDMANS TOWNSHIP, NEW JERSEY: Madeline Gaudreau, the widow of former hockey star Matthew Gaudreau, has welcomed their firstborn, a baby boy, months after the ice hockey player’s death.

Taking to Instagram on Sunday, December 29, the widow of the late NHL player shared a photo, showing her son’s hand alongside a sign that read “He’s Here.”

In the caption, she wrote, “Tripp Matthew 🤍🦋 Mommy & Daddy’s world.”

Madeline Gaudreau reveals how excited Matthew was for the baby

Matthew Gaudreau died at the age of 29 with his brother Johnny Gaudreau in August after a fatal accident, as per PEOPLE.

The siblings’ memorial service was held in early September and at the time, Madeline said, “This last week has felt like I've been trapped in a nightmare I can't wake up from. I feel numb, angry, sad, blessed all at once. Some days, the thought of this new reality is debilitating, but mostly I just miss Matt.”

“The moment we found out about our son Tripp, it consumed him every day. He was downloading apps, ordering books, finding the best diaper brand, making sure I had the best vitamins and asking for tips from John,” she added, as per TODAY.

Madeline also noted at the time that she was “so thankful God gave us a child, a little Matty to run around for life, to carry on his legacy. Tripp will know how much his father loved him, and I promise to do all the things with him we talked about.”

The widow of the former hockey star had a beautiful baby shower in October.

She posted multiple pictures from the event on her social media page and wrote, “Baby Shower of my Dreams 🤍🕊️ Thank you @gabriellevasaturo for hosting. @bitesizedsis you’re amazing, my husband would have loved all the balloons.”

“The way you were able to tie in my husband brought instant tears when I walked in. All my friends and family, nothing will bring his dad back or uncle john, but I am glad he has so many amazing people around him to remind him how amazing they are 💙,” she mentioned.
