Matthew McConaughey says ‘thank you’ to wife Camila Alves in adorable post as they celebrate 12th wedding anniversary

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Matthew McConaughey celebrated a major milestone in his marriage on Sunday, June 9, as he celebrated his 12th wedding anniversary with wife Camila Alves.

Matthew, 54, marked the special occasion with a heartfelt Instagram post which was even shared by wife Camila on her own Instagram page.

The Instagram post featured a photo of the Matthew who was seen kissing his wife on the forehead as he sported a cowboy hat and jean jacket.

"Thank you," he captioned the post simply, adding the hashtag "#happyanniversary."

 Matthew and Camila, a model and entrepreneur, first met in 2006 at a club. In a 2016 interview with People magazine, the actor revealed that it was love at first sight for him

"Out of the corner of my eye, this sort of aqua-green figure went floating across the frame about 20 feet in front of me," the Oscar winner said at the time, recalling the moment he and his Brazilian-born wife met.

"My eye went up and I remember what came out of my mouth. I didn’t say, 'Who is that?' I went, 'What is that?'"

"As l was trying to get that’s attention across the room, I went in my head, 'This is not the kind of woman you call over across the room, McConaughey. Get your a** out of your chair and go get her.' Which I did," he added.

Before getting married on June 9, 2012, in a three-day wedding at their Austin, Texas, home, the couple had son Levi who was born on July 7, 2008, and daughter Vida who was born on January 3, 2010.

Although Reese Witherspoon, Kenny Chesney, and Woody Harrelson were among the celebrities who attended their wedding, Camila previously told PEOPLE that their children played some of the most significant roles that day as the ring bearer and flower girl.

The 'Interstellar' actor and his spouse frequently open up about their love and connection. In another interview with People in 2020, Matthew shared that before he met Camila, he wasn't sure he would ever find "the one" and even considered that he was trying "too hard" to find her.

"I was like, 'Wait, just wait. Be yourself. She’ll come if she’s supposed to come. And if she doesn’t, that’s okay, you’re still a good man, McConaughey'," he recalled at the time.

"Since the evening we met I have not wanted to spend time with any other woman, definitely have not wanted to sleep with anyone else. I’ve not wanted to have children with anyone else other than her," Matthew said of his wife.

"We have a love that we never question."
