Matthew McConaughey sparks Ozempic speculation after he looks 'different' at charity dinner

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Matthew McConaughey has stirred concerns -- and subsequently speculations -- among his fans after he sported an apparently gaunt appearance during a recent trip to a gala dinner last week. 

As images and footage from the Kering Foundations’ Caring for Women gala dinner surfaced on the Internet, fans speculated that the ‘Magic Mike’ star’s appearance looked altered. 

McConaughey attended the charity event with his wife Camila Alves, 41, on September 9, where his appearance and his overall demeanor garnered attention from the Internet as fans started speculating the reason for his changed look. 

While on TikTok, users like @Scuba_duba_ said the actor looked “different,” in videos posted on X too, fans speculated that the ‘Mud’ actor has been using Ozempic for weight loss.

Several theories were floated online regarding McConaughey's appearance. While a segment of fans hypothesized that the 'Interstellar' star underwent massive weight loss which may or may not have been facilitated by Ozempic, another group put forward the theory of the actor undergoing physical transformation for a demanding role.

Meanwhile, some other fans put forward the theory that McConaughey looked displeased at some point as well. 

One of the fans said while comparing another picture from the past year, "Why does Matthew McConaughey look so different? Only a years difference in these pictures 🤷🏽‍♂️."

Someone else noted, "What's wrong with Matthew McConaughey? Why does he look so spooked?"

"Looks like facial plastic surgery gone wrong," hypothesized someone else.

Another fan, meanwhile, speculated, "He looks a bit thin, but he may be preparing for a role."

"He might be getting ready for a movie. He is known to change his physical appearance for a role," explained another fan while doubling down the theory of him undergoing physical transformation for new roles. 

Someone else chimed in, "He’s missing the Adrenochrome supply or has had too many boosters."

Another social media user said, "It seems he's lost some weight, aged a little, and has a little too much botox. This just reminds me to leave my face alone. I am all for facials but I have seen too many in Hollywood with bad botox and fillers."

"That doesn't even look like him anymore," declared another disgruntled fan.

Someone else said, "He's looking like he aged 10 years in 2."

Another fan, however, shared another shot of McConaughey where he seemed smiling, and said, "It must be his attitude at the moment. He looks a lot better in this shot."

Someone else delved deep into the matter and explained, "It looks like he and his wife are in a heated exchange. Scroll to the .7 second mark and look at how he is holding her hand and looking down at it. She is not holding his back. 🧐."

"He’s lost weight and he appears annoyed," put forward another fan.

Someone else said, "Too much Ozempic."

Experts think Matthew McConaughey's appearance change is due to weight loss

While the fans may have speculated several reasons for McConaughey’s seemingly changed face ranging from Ozempics to plastic surgery, aestheticians harbor a more detailed view. 

Talking to Daily Mail, Reza Nassab, a consultant plastic, and reconstructive and aesthetic surgeon, suggested that his appearance change might be attributed to one simple thing - weight loss. 

Nassab dismissed the notion of McConaughey getting a nose surgery, saying, “Personally, I don’t believe that Matthew McConaughey has undergone rhinoplasty. I think the change in the size and shape of his nose could be attributed to weight loss, particularly in his face.”

He explained that his face is looking altered as he lost significant weight. “When someone loses significant weight, the reduction in facial fat can make their features appear more defined and prominent, including the nose,” said the consultant surgeon. 

“This natural shift in appearance due to weight loss can often lead people to assume cosmetic procedures have taken place but in this case, the change in his face could easily be because of his weight loss,” added Nassab. 

This is, however, not the first time that ‘The Gentlemen’ star lost significant weight for a starring role. For his 2013 Oscar-nominated film ‘Dallas Buyers Club’, the actor had slimmed down considerably.
