Matthew Perry death: Celebrity person of interest’s laptop and iPhone seized as part of probe
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: A new development took place in Matthew Perry's death investigation as a report revealed that the belongings of a woman, who is also a celebrity and the person of interest in the case, have been seized by the law enforcement officers.
The unnamed woman has reportedly been interrogated by the cops multiple times after the LAPD started a criminal investigation with the US Drug Enforcement Administration as well as the US Postal Inspection Service following the death of Perry on October 28, 2023. The probe has reportedly been proving bad for the woman as the source noted, "She's been an emotional wreck. This could send her over the edge, whether she's involved or not."
Matthew Perry died because of ‘the acute effects of ketamine’
In the same year in December, the actor’s death was dubbed “the acute effects of ketamine” by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office.
The office added, “Contributing factors in Mr Perry’s death include drowning, coronary artery disease and the effects of buprenorphine (used to treat opioid use disorder). The manner of death is accident.”
Then a May 2024 statement from the LAPD read, as reported by USA Today, “Based on the Medical Examiner’s findings, the Los Angeles Police Department, with the assistance of the Drug Enforcement Administration and the United States Postal Inspection Service, has continued its investigation into the circumstances of Mr. Perry’s death.”
Matthew Perry and the unnamed woman became friends in rehab
About the current development, a tipster shared that the unnamed celebrity “was completely cooperative” and the cops took her iPhone and computer following the search of her room.
She and the late ‘Friends’ star reportedly began an “unexpected friendship” following their meet in rehab. The mole continued, “She's hired lawyers and has had multiple meetings with law enforcement since they arrived at her sober living house with a search warrant. She's being tight-lipped about the situation.”
“But the investigators must have known something to get a warrant and turn up like that. It's tough to say or know exactly what her role is [in Matthew's death], but she's adamant she had nothing to do with that,” they added.
Internet does not see any need for probe in Matthew Perry's death
Meanwhile, people have reacted online over the latest update with a reader commenting below an article, “How many investigations are carried out for non-celebrity deaths from voluntary use of drugs resulting in overdoses? Probably fewer than 10.”
Another one wrote, “He took the drugs by his choice. I can see wanting to get a dealer off the street. But it was still his choice to use drugs.”
The third one shared, “Unless there is concrete evidence that the person who overdosed was held down and made to take a drug, you can’t hold someone else responsible for decisions made by these druggies. Otherwise, we’re going to have to hold alcohol and beer companies responsible every time one of their customers gets drunk, gets behind the wheels of their car, drives his/her car, and causes deaths and injury while under the influence of their products. Sounds silly doesn’t it? Makes as much sense as charging the person who supplies these druggies but doesn’t force them to take them.”
“I wonder whose computer and iPhone they took. Rachel, Monica, or Phoebe,” the fourth one remarked.
The fifth one added, “Perry is the only one responsible for his death. people need to take accountability for their action!!”
