Matthew Perry's personal wealth of $1.5M will go into $120M trust fund with family and ex as beneficiaries
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Matthew Perry’s personal wealth stood at a little over $1.5 million - half a million more than what was initially estimated - at the time of his tragic death aged 54 last year, according to recent court filings.
Per The US Sun, the lumpsum amount will go into the trust that he created in 2009 by the name of Alvy Singer Living Trust - named after Woody Allen’s iconic character from the 1977 flick ‘Annie Hall’.
As the ‘Friends’ actor breathed his last on October 28, 2023, he left the majority of his property to the trust fund with a number of beneficiaries.
Matthew Perry's trust fund worth $120 million
The recent court filings reveal that the actor created a will in 2009, saying he wanted to leave “a majority of his belongings” to the Alvy Singer Living Trust.
Among the beneficiaries listed are his father John Perry, mother Suzanne Morrison, half-sister Caitlin Morrison, and his ex-girlfriend Rachel Dunn, who he dated from 2003 to 2005.
According to the executors, the ‘17 Again’ actor was worth an estimated $120 million. While previous court filings revealed that his personal property was “little over $1million,” the recent filing stated that his personal property was actually more than what was initially estimated.
Per The US Sun, his current account balance shows the number at $1,596,914.47, according to an inventory and appraisal document.
This amount is in excess of what his co-executors Lisa Ferguson and Mike Myers' ex-wife Robin Ruzan previously put in his living trust.
It has also been revealed by the outlet that during his death, the actor famed for his role of Chandler Bing in the hit sitcom 'Friends', didn’t own a single property in California.
The $6 million Pacific Palisades home where he was found dead is under trustee Ferguson’s name and has not yet been listed.
Before his death, Perry completed the purchase of a three-bed-four-bathroom property in the Hollywood Hills for $4,995,000 on May 31, 2023 under his Alvy Singer LLC. It was recently sold for $5,195,000.
Moreover, Perry reportedly made $20 million a year in residuals from ‘Friends’ in which he starred from 1994 to 2004. It is understood that the future proceeds will be taken by his parents.
According to Day Pitney Trusts and Estates partner Tasha Dickinson, his parents would also receive proceeds from his 2022 memoir ‘Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing’.
He wrote about his ex-girlfriend Rachel Dunn - his other beneficiary - in his memoir, where he said that she was “the ex-girlfriend of his dream.” Even though the pair broke up in 2005, Perry included her in his will when he made one in 2009.
Though he previously dated many other famous actresses, no one was named in his will.
Matthew Perry’s death ruled as an accident
Perry was found unresponsive by his manager lying face down in the hot tub of his Pacific Palisades home on October 28.
An autopsy revealed that Perry died from the “acute effects of ketamine” and drowning, with his system containing similar quantities of ketamine as found in a hospital patient under general anesthetic, per Daily Mail.
The Los Angeles coroner’s office reported, “The County of Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner determined the cause of death for 54-year-old actor Matthew Langford Perry as the acute effects of ketamine.”
They continued, “Contributing factors in Mr. Perry's death include drowning, coronary artery disease, and the effects of buprenorphine (used to treat opioid use disorder). The manner of death is accident.”
The medical examiner, Raffi Djabourian, further referred to the ketamine found in his body, writing, “At the high levels of ketamine found in his postmortem blood specimens, the main lethal effects would be from both cardiovascular overstimulation and respiratory depression.”
While a patient under general anesthetic in a hospital has a blood ketamine level of 1,000 - 6,000 ng/ml, Perry's blood ketamine levels were at 3,540 ng/ml in peripheral blood, and 3,271 ng/ml in central blood.
The report continued, “Drowning contributes due to the likelihood of submersion into the pool as he lapsed into unconsciousness; coronary artery disease contributes due to exacerbation of ketamine induced myocardial effects on the heart.”
“Buprenorphine effects are listed as contributory, even though not at toxic levels, due to the additive respiratory effects when present with high levels of ketamine,” added the report while noting there was no trace of alcohol, cocaine, heroin, meth or fentanyl in his system.
Currently, his step-father Keith Morrison is actively pursuing the actor's death investigation.
