Megan Thee Stallion reportedly quits ‘Moulin Rouge’ Broadway run amid breakup with Klay Thompson
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Rapper Megan Thee Stallion has decided to shorten her Broadway run in 'Moulin Rouge! The Musical,' stepping away earlier than originally planned. The change comes shortly after she publicly confirmed the end of her relationship with NBA player Klay Thompson.
Megan confirmed the end of their relationship on social media, stressing that trust, respect, and fidelity are non-negotiable for her, following allegations of cheating involving Thompson. Her departure marks an emotional turn in what had been a major theatrical milestone in her career.

Megan, who was performing as nightclub owner Zidler in the Broadway production, announced on Monday, April 27, that her final show would be on May 1 instead of May 17. She shared the update through an emotional Instagram message, expressing gratitude to the cast, crew, and fans for their support during her run.
She then described the experience, "It’s been such an honor to be part of thee Moulin Rouge family and I’ve met so many amazing people in this theater!" and praised the dedication and effort of everyone involved in the production.
Megan said, "Y’all work so hard and I have so much respect for the dedication, the stamina, the work ethic, the time and the effort y’all put into the work, I’m so grateful for the cast and crew that made this experience so meaningful. And to all the Hotties that showed up or planned to attend, thank you for supporting me during this incredible journey! I LOVE YALL."
She did not share a specific reason for her early exit from the show. However, her month-long run was marked by several complications, including a brief hospitalization for what her representative described as “extreme exhaustion and dehydration, vasoconstriction and low metabolic levels,” along with her recent breakup.
Megan announced in an April 25 statement, "I've made the decision to end my relationship with Klay, Trust, fidelity and respect are non-negotiable for me in a relationship, and when those values are compromised, there's no real path forward."
She added, "I'm taking this time to prioritize myself and move ahead with peace and clarity."

The Grammy winner appeared to push through her heartache during that same night’s performance, breaking down in tears during the musical’s curtain call, as seen in video footage circulating on social media. Megan’s romance with the Dallas Mavericks guard began last summer, with the pair confirming their relationship in July 2025.
Shortly after, they made their red carpet debut at the inaugural Pete & Thomas Foundation gala, Megan said, “The cat’s out the bag, babe.” As the relationship between the 'Body' rapper and the professional athlete developed, Megan revealed that marriage was something she had begun thinking about.
“I love love, that’s so sweet,” she said while congratulating Team USA’s Hilary Knight and Brittany Bowe on their engagement during the 2026 Olympic Games in February, per a YouTube Short. “I’m manifesting my engagement too.”
Megan’s performance as the first woman to portray nightclub boss received strong reviews and contributed to renewed interest in the show. According to Rolling Stone, crowds gathered outside the theatre hoping to catch a glimpse of the star, with fans travelling from across the United States to watch her performance.
She was also involved in a high-profile 2022 court case with her ex-partner Tory Lanez. He was later sentenced to 10 years in prison after being found guilty of shooting her in the foot.
