LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Actor Michael B. Jordan has opened up about life after his first Academy Award win, sharing a surprisingly low-key detail about where his Oscar currently sits. More than a month after taking home the Best Actor honor, the actor said he is still deciding where to permanently place the trophy.

His comments came during the red carpet premiere of his Netflix animated film 'Swapped' on Sunday, April 26 in Los Angeles. The appearance marked one of his first major public outings since winning the award on March 15 for his dual performance as twin brothers Smoke and Stack in the vampire thriller 'Sinners'.

Michael B Jordan says Oscar is kept in ‘closet’ after Best Actor win for 'Sinners'

Speaking at the premiere, the 39-year-old actor revealed that his Oscar does not yet have a permanent display spot.

“Right now, it’s… in my closet,” Jordan said with a laugh, adding that the award has been moved around his home while he figures out where it belongs. He noted that it is not something he is currently focused on, as his attention has already shifted toward upcoming projects.

He also made it clear that the award has taken a backseat to his work, saying he is more focused on what comes next in his career than where the trophy is stored.

Jordan’s win for 'Sinners' marked a defining moment in his career, earning him the Academy Award for Best Actor for a demanding dual role. The performance required him to portray twin brothers with distinct personalities, a challenge that drew strong attention from voters and audiences.

At the Oscars ceremony, he surpassed contenders including Timothee Chalamet and Leonardo DiCaprio. The win also placed him among a select group of Black actors to receive the Best Actor award in a leading role.

In his acceptance speech, Jordan acknowledged the legacy of performers who paved the way, naming icons such as Sidney Poitier and Denzel Washington while reflecting on his journey in the industry.

Michael B Jordan’s career journey and upcoming projects after 'Sinners'

Jordan’s career began at a young age with his breakout role as Wallace in HBO’s 'The Wire' when he was just 15. Over the years, he built a steady path through television and film before becoming a leading man in major Hollywood productions.

Beyond acting, he is set to direct and star in a remake of 'The Thomas Crown Affair' and is also attached to upcoming projects including 'Miami Vice ’85' alongside Austin Butler. His directorial debut with 'Creed III' in 2023 was a commercial success and marked a strong step into filmmaking.

Jordan’s growing slate of acting and directing projects signals a career increasingly split between performance and filmmaking, even as his Oscar remains tucked away at home for now.
