Meghan Markle faces criticism from Montecito neighbors for being too snobby to socialize with community
MONTECITO, CALIFORNIA: Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, has come under fire from her neighbors for choosing not to socialize much with the multi-millionaire community of Montecito in California, Radar Online reported on Tuesday, December 31.
Markle and her husband, Prince Harry, moved to the idyllic coastal town in July 2020 from Los Angeles, after giving up their royal duties.
Since then, the 43-year-old 'Suits' star has been spotted in the company of a select few Hollywood elites, such as filmmaker Tyler Perry and music producer David Foster.
German documentary highlights aloofness of royal couple
German network ZDF created a documentary aimed at showcasing 40-year-old Prince Harry's journey from being one of the most popular faces in the royal family of England to his comparatively quieter life in the United States with Meghan Markle and their adorable children, Archie and Lilibet.
According to FandomWire, the official synopsis of the movie from ZDF reads, "The royal family has to deal with difficult developments and regroup after ‘Megxit’, the death of the Queen and Charles and Kate’s cancer. What role will Harry play in the future?"
First aired in Germany on December 3, the documentary has reportedly shown locals claim that the Duchess was not very keen when it came to interacting with the locals in her neighborhood.
While some gave Harry a pass on his social skills, others pointed out that he was not seen much in public as well.
Locals refuse to accept Meghan Markle as 'asset' to community
In the documentary, Richard Mineards called out Meghan Markle stating, "I personally don't think that Meghan is an asset to our community. She doesn't really go out or get involved with the community."
"Harry has to a certain extent because he's quite jolly, but Meghan doesn't seem to get seen anywhere," he noted but was contradicted by an unnamed insider source.
"They keep themselves to themselves. I haven't seen Harry around much," shared the person. "Normally when you see him around here, he's walking his Labrador on the beach or his bicycle, followed by his security in a Range Rover."
As sources generally agreed on the couple's proclivity to keep the company of carefully vetted friends, they felt it needed to change if they were planning to enroll their children in one of the prestigious schools in the area.
"They are the public couple that claim to crave privacy. But when you have young children, they all mix with other young children at schools or nurseries, observed commentator Duncan Larcombe.
