NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Meghan Markle has found a way to keep a clear focus amid growing public scrutiny.

The Duchess of Sussex spoke candidly at the TIME100 Summit in New York City on Wednesday, April 23, about setting boundaries and protecting her peace.

Meghan Markle says becoming a mother helped her fine-tune that inner filter

During her conversation with TIME CEO Jessica Sibley, Meghan Markle opened up about how she handles public critique, whether it’s about returning to Instagram, reactions to her As Ever product line, or reviews of her new Netflix series, 'With Love, Meghan'.

She noted that she’s found inspiration in a Tina Fey quote: “If you ever start to feel good about yourself, they have this thing called the internet, and you can find a lot of people there who don't like you.”

Speaking about the impact of motherhood on her mindset, Meghan said she’s “made a very, very conscious effort to create boundaries for myself and for my mental health, for my well-being and certainly to role model that as well for my children.”

“I'm conscious of not just raising very strong and confident young woman, but also having a son,” she added, per People.

The duchess also reflected on how she tunes out negativity to maintain her mental space. “It starts with whatever is going on internally,” she said.

“When I am able to not even just tune out whatever that noise is, [but] to really not give it any credence, that has become so much a part of my day-to-day life,”  Meghan stated.

She admitted that staying disconnected can lead to being unaware of current events.

“Things will get brought to my attention on a need-to-know basis outside of that. That's part of what I find to bring me peace," the mother of two noted.

"It also helps me have very, very strategic focus on the intention of the products, the creative, the producer work that we're doing that I want to bring to the table," Meghan added.
