Meghan Markle only attended LA Children's Hospital Gala 'for photographs', claims former pal

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: According to a former friend of Meghan Markle, British socialite Lizzie Cundy, the Duchess of Sussex only attended the LA Children's Hospital Gala on October 5 "for the photographs."

Cundy, 56, and Meghan Markle, 43, were once friends following their 2013 meeting at a charity banquet. However, Meghan proceeded to "ghost" Cundy after she met Prince Harry, as per Daily Mail.

The Duchess of Sussex, wearing a Carolina Herrera gown she first wore in 2021, decided to go for a more wavy hairstyle instead of her typical slicked-back look. She also decided to wear less jewelry and makeup for the event.

Donning a Pia Michi dress to the event, Cundy told the Mail of Meghan: "There wasn't a great deal of warmth from people when she arrived. She wasn't there long – she seemed to be there for the photographs."

"Meghan needs LA more than LA needs her. LA people feel they've been played by her," she added.

Cundy continued: "Harry and Meghan were loved because they're part of the Royal Family, but they've bad-mouthed the royals, who are loved in LA. It's a shame, because charity work is where her and Harry do great things."

She expressed her disappointment by saying, "I’d have worn a different one if I’d known," in reference to the Duchess of Sussex's outfit that was similar to hers.

The socialite previously stated that Meghan subsequently severed all ties with her, saying, 'She's ghosted quite a lot of people, obviously, including her family, so I'm not the worst person she's ghosted."

Lizzie Cundy narrowly managed to dodge an extremely embarrassing reunion with her former "old friend," Meghan Markle on Saturday (October 5) night. Having attended the event together, the British socialite did not expect the Duchess to be in attendance.

Cundy was seated at the top table while Meghan was flanked by her high-security crew as the two avoided an embarrassing exchange, per Daily Mail.

Cundy and Meghan's almost reunion took place after the socialite stated in 2023 that she attempted to get Meghan a part in 'Made in Chelsea' before she met Prince Harry.

Cundy told Nana Akua during an appearance on GB News that Meghan was eager to appear on the E4 reality show. "I was friends with Meghan for a while and I really got on with her," the former WAG stated.

Cundy has previously asserted that Meghan and Harry named their daughter Lilibet in her honor rather than the Queen's honor. "I was called Lilibet. It's short for Elizabeth. It was my nickname at school!" she claimed in an interview with OK! magazine.

"Thank you Meghan. You ghosted me – and now you're calling your child after me. I appreciate it," she added.
