LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Meghan Markle, once a regular face on screen as paralegal Rachel Zane in ‘Suits’, has admitted she still occasionally misses her acting days.

Speaking on the ‘Aspire with Emma Grede' podcast, the Duchess of Sussex opened up about the bittersweet farewell she made to Hollywood upon entering royal life, and how her latest ventures both creative and entrepreneurial have helped fill that void, reports Fox News.

Meghan Markle reflects on her acting career

“Sometimes, sometimes,” Markle said when asked if she ever longs to return to acting.

But hosting her Netflix lifestyle series ‘With Love, Meghan’ brought some of that old energy back. “Actually, having a large team, being back on set with ‘With Love, Meghan’ was great because I realized how much I had missed my crew,” she shared. “I love being around a crew.”

While chatting with Grede, Markle reflected on her departure from ‘Suits’, sharing that she never got the chance to properly say goodbye because her exit had to be kept quiet.

“We couldn’t say I was leaving necessarily. It was speculated,” she said, adding, “So, after seven years on the series, we couldn't have a going away party. I couldn't say my goodbyes.”

After officially stepping down from her role as a working royal in 2020, Markle and Prince Harry relocated to California, where she's since focused on personal projects including her lifestyle brand As Ever, previously known as American Riviera Orchard.

Though 'With Love, Meghan' is unscripted, Markle said it reawakened her appreciation for production life and creative teamwork.

“We work with people for seven years. For seven years, that's a really strong connection. And I loved the crew. So I think for me, having the (Netflix) series even though it wasn't scripted, was really great to get that piece back, but then also building my own business. You have a team, and that's really what I was craving as well.”

Meghan Markle opens up about facing rejection in Hollywood

Reflecting on her early acting struggles, Markle discussed the rejection she faced navigating an industry that didn’t quite know where to place her.

“When I was an auditioning actress and this was well before ‘Suits,’ you have to think at that time there were certainly not a lot of mixed race parts,” she explained.

“If I was going in for an audition — you have to remember this was a very different time than it is now. It was ‘girl next door.’ That was typically blond-haired, blue-eyed and a certain look. But because I'm half White, I would also be submitted for those roles and then if it was a character that had any sort of ethnicity, there was always a bit of an edge to those characters.”

Markle added, “But I'd be submitted for those roles and I also, to a lot of people in casting, they thought I was Latina,” she said. “So I share that because, and I've shared this before, because it was a numbers game. If I'm only up for 10 parts, that could be 10 nos, but if I'm up for 30 parts because I can fit into so many different rooms, that could be 30 nos. That is a lot to chip away at your self-esteem. That is really hard.”

Markle opened up about how the constant rejection she faced while trying to break into the entertainment world wore down her confidence.

“I went through my chapter of self-doubt as an auditioning actor and beyond that,” she shared. “When you're so consumed with what everyone around you thinks of you, that can be a really hard way to live.”

Markle says becoming a mother changed not only her life but also how she views herself.

“And that, you can't have an imposter syndrome around. No way,” Markle said, emphasizing the importance of being a grounded role model. “You have to be so authentically the role model and the example of confidence, self-forgiveness, kindness, fun — all of those things and ou can't fake that.”

Markle, who shares 6-year-old son Prince Archie and 3-year-old daughter Princess Lilibet with husband Prince Harry, noted that this internal shift has been a defining part of her last six years.

“You want to model that for them, so all of that really shifted in the past six years of becoming a mom for me,” she added.

Internet reacts as Meghan Markle says she misses acting

Meghan Markle’s recent comments about missing her acting career have stirred up a lively reaction online, with many social media users questioning the sincerity of her statement.

One user quipped, “She never stopped.”

Another chimed in, “Royals and Hollywood want nothing to do with her!!”

Criticism of her past performances also surfaced, “I’ve watched her on Suits and in one of those ‘Hallmark Movies’ and I didn’t see any acting. She plays herself. No acting involved.”

Others argued that Markle has been performing all along, with one user writing, “Did she really quit acting? Because everything we see from her is a form of acting. Nothing she does or says is authentic; all scripted.”

Another added bluntly, “How can you miss something you never stopped doing?”
