Meghan Markle wanted to 'share space with the Queen' as she competed with Kate Middleton after marriage
LONDON, UK: Meghan Markle reportedly wanted to live in a bigger place like her sister-in-law Kate Middleton following her move to the UK before her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry.
The former actress also wanted to “share space with the Queen,” The Mirror reports.
Meghan and Harry stayed in a two-bedroom house after the engagement
Meghan and Harry began living together in Nottingham Cottage, located on the grounds of Kensington Palace, after their engagement in 2017.
However, the house was quite compact, featuring only two bedrooms and a small garden, which did not prove adequate for the pair.
The duo had spoken about in their Netflix docu-series ‘Harry and Meghan’ too.
“As far as people were concerned, we were living in a palace. And we were, in a cottage…” the Duke of Sussex shared.
His wife also mentioned, “Kensington Palace sounds very regal, of course it does. It says 'palace' in the name! But Nottingham Cottage was so small.”
Meghan wanted to live in ‘suites within Windsor Castle’
Now, it has been alleged that Meghan made “demands” regarding her living space in the UK after her and Harry’s wedding.
“Meghan Markle, after she married Prince Harry, approached the family and asked if they could have suites within Windsor Castle,” royal expert Kinsey Schofield claimed, as per The Mirror.
The expert also shared that the 43-year-old “wanted to share the same space with the Queen, and she was denied that space for multiple reasons.”
Schofield also alleged that Meghan was keen on getting suites within the huge castle because of her competitiveness with Kate.
The Princess of Wales shares a huge and luxurious apartment, featuring more than 20 rooms and three kitchens, with Prince William and their children in Kensington Palace, and Meghan wanted “something of similar value”.
Meghan Markle seemed ‘lost without’ Prince Harry at an event
This came as rumors about trouble in the Sussexes’ marriage have begun to swirl.
The couple has lately been appearing solo at numerous events. Recently, the mother-of-two went alone to the Children's Hospital Los Angeles Gala 2024 on Saturday, October 5.
But as per body language expert Judi James, Meghan’s “body language ritual she follows seems to be a deliberate signal of her current state while Harry is off on his solo tour.”
She added, “Meghan performs signals of coyness and even shyness plus a subliminal desire to have someone take over the lead from Harry, as though she is somehow lost without him on the red carpet or wanting to suggest she is feeling more vulnerable and girlishly playful than usual.”
