Meghan Markle's stepsister Samantha slams Duchess for ‘lying' to her daughter about royal wedding invite
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Samantha Markle has called out her estranged younger half-sister Meghan Markle, and alleged that she lied to her daughter, Ashleigh Hale, about the 2018 royal wedding invite that saw her and Prince Harry tying the knot without the presence of the Markles.
During the wedding, Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland was only present from her side. Her father Thomas Markle was even absent.
At the time, the mother-of-two said via a statement, “Sadly, my father will not be attending our wedding. I have always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health.”
“I would like to thank everyone who has offered generous messages of support. Please know how much Harry and I look forward to sharing our special day with you on Saturday,” she added.
Samantha Markle accuses Meghan of lying to her daughter
In an interview, Samantha revealed, as reported by Ok! Magazine, “It was really surprising to hear that there was a narrative spun that made Ashley feel like she was not invited because of something having to do with me.”
“I heard from a royal insider who knows, that was up to Meghan, so Meghan lied to my daughter which made my daughter feel begrudging of me,” she claimed.
The 59-year-old author also further stated that the alleged snub reportedly hurt her daughter, who felt “torn between the two and then feeling perhaps like she could not go to the wedding because of me.”
“She made my daughter feel like it was something wrong with me that prevented her from going to the wedding,” Samantha asserted.
Meghan Markle’s niece was ‘hurt’ by apparent snub
Besides, the screenwriter’s attorney's daughter also shared her views over the apparent snub.
Hale reportedly said, “I think I said I was hurt on some level, but I understood where it was coming from. To know that it was because of my biological mother that this relationship, that's so important to me, was impacted in that way.”
“I feel like because of her, it was taken away. It's been hard,” she added.
Samantha Markle lost defamation case against Meghan Markle
This came months after the Duchess of Sussex won a defamation case filed against her by Samantha, as reported by PEOPLE.
The elder half-sister of Meghan had accused her of defaming her via her interviews.
But the US District Attorney Judge Charlene Honeywell dismissed it, mentioning that the claims made by Samantha “suggest” that she “disagrees” with Meghan’s “opinions rather than statements of fact.”
Following the decision, Meghan’s attorney, Michael J Kump, stated, “We are pleased with the court’s ruling dismissing the case.”
