WASHINGTON, DC: On‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ her show, Megyn Kelly said she was instrumental in the secret meeting between the CEO of Turning Point USA, Erika Kirk and conservative commentator Candace Owens, which was a face-to-face talk to calm their publicly aired disagreement.

The comments came on ‘The Megyn Kelly Show’ as Kelly explained why she had not publicly weighed in on the controversy until now.

Kelly told viewers that she had been working quietly with both women after tensions escalated following weeks of online accusations and conspiracy-style commentary about the September 2025 assassination of Charlie Kirk, Erika’s late husband and founder of Turning Point USA.

Megyn Kelly says Erika Kirk reached out to her

Before the meeting, Erika Kirk posted on X that she and Candace Owens had agreed to pause all public commentary until after they spoke in person.

“Many of my viewers have been wondering why I haven’t said anything given my previous statements about Erika, and the reason is that I have been working behind the scenes to try to foster a détente between them,” Kelly, the former Fox News star and current host of SiriusXM’s ‘The Megyn Kelly Show,’ said on her Tuesday podcast.

Erika Kirk reached out to both Kelly and Owens, seeking a meeting that could possibly take the form of a livestreamed, on-air discussion either in Arizona or Tennessee.

“Erika called me weeks ago and asked me if I would be part of this sit-down with them, which originally they had contemplated might be for consumption by the public, might air in some way, shape, or form, and asked if I would facilitate that meeting between the two of them,” Kelly told her listeners on Tuesday.

“And I said ‘Yes,’ immediately. ‘Of course I would’.”

According to Kelly, she reached out to Owens, who is said to have responded: “Absolutely, I’m thrilled it’s you. I’m in.”

“And the two of them took it from there, trying to negotiate the specifics of what they both would be comfortable with, where, when, etcetera,” Kelly said.

Following the conversation, Kirk described it as ‘very productive,’ and Owens reported that both sides found common ground on more issues than anticipated. They agreed that some points of disagreement still exist, but both women said the discussion helped ease tensions and clarify intentions.

Kelly said the decision to keep the meeting private came after what she described as unspecified “roadblocks,” ultimately leading both women to agree to meet off camera.

“Let’s do this privately, not on camera, not a livestream, just us,” Kelly said, adding that she “fully support[ed]” the move.

The meeting took place in Nashville and lasted several hours, according to Kelly.
