Mel B's ex Stephen Belafonte's $82K demand denied after he won court battle for daughter's custody
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Stephen Belafonte's plans to exact a hefty amount from his former wife Mel B has been spoiled by a court after he was given custody of their daughter, Madison Brown Belafonte.
The film producer wanted $80K from the singer to pay the fees to his legal team but a Los Angeles Superior Court judge threw his request out, RadarOnline.com reported.
Madison Brown Belafonte has mostly been living with Stephen Belafonte
Mel B and Stephen were married from 2007 to 2017 and welcomed Madison in 2011.
But after their divorce and when the ‘Spice Girls’ member’s work visa expired in 2019, she came back to her home country England, leaving her daughter with Stephen.
Since then, the child has continued to live in the US with her father.
However, recently, Stephen filed a request to shift to Florida from Los Angeles with Madison, which was contested by Mel B.
Mel B's accusations about Stephen Belafonte’s parenting
The 48-year-old, instead, sought her daughter’s primary custody.
In her filing, she reportedly mentioned, “Madison’s sisters, Angel and Phoenix, relocated with me to the U.K. where we live minutes from nearly all of our friends and family. Moving to the U.K. without Madison was devastating for the girls and me.”

Mel B continued, “The three girls have always had a very close relationship and enjoy spending time together. Madison would thrive socially, emotionally, and academically if she were permitted to live with me and her sisters in the U.K. during the school year.”
She also added, “I have serious concerns about Stephen’s ability to care for Madison in a manner consistent with her best interests. Stephen continuously attempts to alienate Madison from her sisters and me,” while asking for his drug test report.
But the actress failed to prove her allegations and her former husband won the case. Stephen was also permitted to go to Florida with their daughter.
He, however, was denied any monetary support from Mel B.
Internet asks Stephen Belafonte to 'get a job'
Meanwhile, the recent drama has attracted attention online with a user on Facebook commenting, “He needs to get himself a job.”
Another wrote, “He’s a controlling narcissist! She was groomed and controlled. He needs to crawl back under a rock!”
“Honestly these celebrities, they put you off getting married,” a third shared.
A fourth user added, “An EXTREMELY SELFISH LITTLE PUNK to keep a child away from her mother for the sole purpose of trying to bankroll her mother. Don’t ever think that this child will not grow to resent you and when she becomes of age, she WILL go to her mother and NEVER speak to you. KARMA.”
