Melania Trump documentary trolled as 'worst movie of all time' in early reviews

WASHINGTON, DC: First lady Melania Trump’s new documentary, 'Melania', is set to premiere at the Trump Kennedy Center on Thursday, January 29.

Even before the special screening, reviews are falling sharply, and early reactions suggest the documentary is a struggle to watch. Online reviewers on platforms like Letterboxd have been particularly brutal, posting harsh reviews of the Amazon-MGM-produced documentary. 

On X (formerly Twitter), netizens and critics expressed disappointment and trolled the documentary. 

Early reviews troll Melania Trump’s documentary

Melania Trump’s newly released documentary is facing a wave of backlash on social media. Audiences, especially on Letterboxd, don’t seem impressed, with many leaving negative reviews without even watching the film.

So far, 'Melania' has received over 100 reviews and currently holds a rating of 2.5 out of 5 stars. The documentary will hit select theaters on Friday.

One user said, "This is like one of the top 3 contenders for worst movie of all time, and it's not 3 or 2." Another wrote, "Didn't watch this film, don't plan to, but I'd like to request the person responsible for the fake poster on the film's main page change it to the actual one or at least not be a hypocrite." 

"Go through the entire Letterboxd database and do the same to all the other hateful propaganda films about horrible people (there are plenty). If you must take a stand, at least put in the work," it added. 

Another added, "Didn't watch it, never would." Yet another chimed in, "I really don't care, do u?" 

Now on X, netizens can’t stop talking about the harsh reviews of Melania’s documentary. One X user wrote, "Best film review of Melania," and followed it up with, "'If they showed this film on a plane, people would still walk out.' — Variety."

"#MELANIAMELTDOWN What a friggin hoot! Really, who the F wants to spend $20 bucks to watch a 'paid for hire First Lady"' movie?! 100 minutes! Omg, it's longer than the top box office movies. I guess it may be a good comedy watching her try to act. Thanks BEZO'S 49m+!" shared another user. 

Someone else remarked, "Several people have messaged me to ask whether I plan on reviewing MELANIA.  My apologies if I wasn't clear enough. I would rather pour bleach into my eyes and eat wallpaper paste than *ever* watch this piece of garbage, let alone review it. Thank you for your understanding."

"'Worst experience I ever had in a theater.' - Abraham Lincoln," a user quipped. 

Another one shared, "Reminds me a of quote from a critic in a movie, 'I wouldn't see this film if it was playing in my glasses.'"

The documentary, 'Melania,' a full-length film, will give a close look at her life in the 20 days before the 2025 presidential inauguration. It will show how she managed her daily duties, family life, and the move back to Washington, DC. 

The film offers behind-the-scenes moments from her public and private life. The documentary was directed by Brett Ratner and produced by Amazon and MGM Studios. It is also one of the first big projects from the first lady’s own production company.
