WASHINGTON, DC: First lady Melania Trump is keeping herself occupied away from the prying eyes of reporters, an insider revealed to OK! Magazine on Saturday, March 8.

The remark comes as the 54-year-old former model has made herself scarce beside her husband, Donald Trump, since he took over the Oval Office for a second term as the President of the United States.

Since January 20, Melania and Trump were seen together on rare occasions, such as on their trip to hurricane-devastated North Carolina on January 24, to the National Governors Association Dinner at the White House on February 22, and Trump's congressional speech on March 4.

Earlier this week, Melania held her first solo event in her second term as FLOTUS when she went to Capitol Hill to support the TAKE IT DOWN Act, which seeks to protect victims of deepfakes and nonconsensual intimate imagery (NCII).

Insider insists Melania Trump remains busy

Melania Trump's tendency to avoid publicity has been observed since the first Trump presidency. As the trend continues in 2025, an insider claims that the FLOTUS is far from hiding.

“People are saying she disappeared, but the truth is she doesn’t need to be there for every single event,” said the source close to Melania. "She’s definitely been keeping busy behind the scenes.”

The absence of the first lady beside the POTUS was noticed when Trump welcomed foreign leaders such as Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, French President Emmanuel Macron, or Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the White House last month. She also skipped attending Super Bowl LIX, which Trump became the first sitting president in history to attend.

Trump has previously defended Melania for avoiding cameras, saying in an interview, "She's a private person, a great person, a very confident person, and she loves our country very much. She'll be — at the appropriate time — she'll be out there."

As per the source, the FLOTUS is "very selective and methodical in what she wants to do and how she presents herself."

Author Michael Wolff claims Melania Trump 'hates' her husband

In his new book 'All or Nothing: How Trump Recaptured America', journalist and acclaimed author Michael Wolff painted a bleak picture of Melania Trump's relationship with Donald Trump, saying that she "f**king hates him."

"Whatever was going on — and no one had any idea what was going on, at least no more than what was plainly obvious — it had certainly not been helped by the Stormy trial,” Wolff stated, referencing the New York hush money trial that Trump went through last year. "But that seemed hardly the only thing to explain the colder and colder winter."

Another source close to Melania reportedly told People, "She doesn’t believe she has obligations in the political world, but she does care about children and their well-being. Anything she may do in this administration will happen if she has the time and interest to pursue it."
