Melania Trump returns in a striking red Dior and blue Michael Kors look
Melania Trump’s outfit quickly became one of the most noticeable parts of the Rose Garden appearance.
She wore a crisp, oversized sky-blue Michael Kors shirt with the collar popped, pairing it with a bright red Dior pencil skirt. She finished the look with red Manolo Blahnik suede pumps.
The combination of blue and red stood out against the American flags behind her, giving the first lady a distinctly patriotic look for an event that also had a very American backdrop.
Parked nearby was an IndyCar covered in red, white and blue.
The car also carried branding connected to her 'BE BEST' and Fostering the Future initiatives.
Melania Trump appeared impressed by the unusual addition to the White House grounds.
“Look at this incredible race car,” she told the crowd. “Gorgeous and powerful.”

The race car was displayed just days before IndyCar drivers were expected to race through Washington, DC, for the Freedom 250 Grand Prix.
Six-time IndyCar Series champion and 2008 Indianapolis 500 winner Scott Dixon joined Melania Trump, along with 2016 Indianapolis 500 winner Alexander Rossi, Graham Rahal and Scott McLaughlin.
IndyCar President Doug Boles said the cars would reach speeds of more than 180 mph as they raced through the capital, passing landmarks including the US Capitol and Washington Monument and circling the National Mall.
Boles described the event as a “massive and very fast spectacle” tied to America’s 250th birthday.
Melania Trump expands Fostering the Future to 26 schools
The first lady announced an expansion of her Fostering the Future initiative, which supports young Americans transitioning out of the foster care system.
Fox Corporation and IndyCar are each contributing $1 million toward scholarships at Indiana University and Purdue University.
The combined $2 million commitment will bring the initiative’s network to 26 colleges and universities across the country.
“The greatest investment America can make is not in technology, infrastructure or capital markets. It's our children,” Melania Trump said.
She also shared another milestone from the program, announcing that one of its scholarship recipients became the initiative’s first doctor this spring.
“He will change the lives of so many people,” she said, adding that graduates would “build new companies, launch new industries and redefine what is possible for all Americans.”
