WASHINGTON, DC: Melania Trump turned heads with her bold fashion choice at Donald Trump’s second inauguration on January 20, and much of the attention centered on her oversized, wide-brimmed hat.

As social media buzzed with speculation about a hidden message behind the striking accessory, Melania's French-American stylist, Herve Pierre, was quick to address the controversy.

Melania Trump's stylist dismisses rumors of hidden meaning behind inauguration hat

In an exclusive interview with Hello!, Herve Pierre put to rest the rumors swirling around the hat, clarifying that there was no deeper meaning behind the design.

“For the message she tried to send... there is none,” Pierre said, dispelling any ideas of a hidden message within the ensemble. "Finding clothes for this type of lifestyle is already a lot of work; if I had to think each time about which coded message was behind every look, I would never be able to deliver my work on time."

Pierre, who has been responsible for many of Melania’s signature looks, emphasized that his goal was simply to create an outfit that was both stylish and fitting for the occasion.

“If the look is appropriate for the occasion and looks great, my job is done,” he explained.

“As always, it was the result of a good conversation," he added.

The eye-catching hat, which nearly obscured Melania’s face, became a focal point during the inauguration, with some netizens speculating about its possible symbolism.

Social media was buzzing with reactions on January 22, and many offered playful (as well as critical) comments on the first lady’s attire.

A user wrote "She's a Smooth Criminal haha."

Another added, "Called a boater hat."

A user remarked, "She looks like out of Africa on a safari."

Despite the criticism, some supporters were quick to defend the look.

"As I said-her outfits always have a message! Love it!" said a supporter.

A person asserted, "It was the perfect outfit! Dominant, feminine - strong & sexy. It screams "I'm the captain now!" & "Get in the bronco!""

Another chimed in, "So good to see class and elegance again at the helm."

Melania Trump's stylist defends her inauguration outfit, calls it 'sharp' and 'modern'

While the online chatter continued, Herve Pierre stood by the simple and straightforward intent behind the design. The clothing designer thinks Melania Trump's outfit for the swearing-in ceremony will establish the style direction for the next four years.

Pierre also took a moment to reflect on Melania's attire as a whole, calling it "sharp, modern, easy to remember and easy to describe", adding that he believed the look set the tone for the next four years.

"For me, it was very ‘Mrs Trump'. It was sharp, modern, easy to remember and easy to describe... this is what we tried to convey. As always, it was the result of a good conversation," he concluded.
