Michael J Fox reveals he would return to acting if he's offered the right role despite announcing retirement

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE: Michael J Fox hinted at possibly returning to acting four years after he announced his retirement.

Speaking to ET, Fox, who began his career as a child actor, engaged in a walk down the memory lane as he revisited a 1984 interview from his time on the iconic NBC sitcom 'Family Ties' when he was 22 years old.

Fox shared that at the time he wanted to "do it all" which he now humorously remarks, "22-year-olds are obnoxious."

Explaining how his goals in life kept shifting but ultimately led to set his goals on wanting to raise a family with his wife, Tracy Pollan.

"My biggest goal, I think, was to raise a family. We have four amazing kids and that's been the big thing," Fox said of his wife whom he met on the set of 'Family Ties' in 1985.

"And then the other is with the foundation," he added.

Michael J Fox is thrilled about the documentary chronicling his fight with Parkinson's disease

Reflecting on his upcoming documentary project 'Still, an AppleTV+' that chronicles his struggle with Parkinson's disease, Fox candidly spoke about his wish to return to acting.

"If someone offers me a part and I do it and I have a good time, great. I mean, the documentary was a big thrill," he said.

In 1991, Fox was diagnosed with the progressive disorder when he was 29 years old.

"It was fun. I never would have set that as a goal. It just happened," he said of filming the documentary.

"I would do acting if something came up that I could put my realities into it, my challenges, if I could figure it out," added Fox who retired from his acting career in 2020.

In September 2023, the actor revealed to Empire Magazine that the decision to retire from acting was influenced by Quentin Tarantino's 'Once Upon a Time...In Hollywood', particularly a scene that featured Leonardo DiCaprio's Rick Dalton character struggling to remember his lines and having a meltdown in his trailer.

Fox then recounted his experience of struggling to memorize his lines for his cameo appearance in 2020 in two episodes of his final TV project, 'The Good Fight'.
