Michael Rapaport says Gavin Newsom should've focused on 'fire-proofing' Los Angeles

Launching into an unhinged rant, the 'Only Murders in the Building' star claimed that "Gavin with the good hair Newsom" should have been more concerned with "fire-proofing" California rather than "Trump-proofing" it.

As the Southern California wildfires, which have destroyed thousands of houses, began their second week, Rapaport, 54, stated in a video uploaded on Instagram, "You’re talking about Trump this, Trump that. He’s not even president."

He yelled on camera, "Get the f**k out of here! ‘We’ll do better next time. We need to learn from our mistakes.’"

Referred to Newsom as "Nancy's [Pelosi] nephew," Rapaport said, "You’re not running for sixth-grade class president. Them days are over."

"What a good old boy you turned out to be, you little bulls**t artist," Rapaport exclaimed.

Although Rapaport has previously criticized President-elect Donald Trump, he claimed that Israel was the reason why Vice President Kamala Harris lost the 2024 election.

Izzy Gardon, Newsom's director of communications, told Fox News Digital, "The Governor is focused on protecting people, not playing politics, and making sure firefighters have all the resources they need."

Several celebrities have criticized Newsom and Los Angeles officials for their lack of planning and crisis response since the fires started last Tuesday, January 7.

Mark Wahlberg's wife, Rhea Durham, also criticized Newsom's easygoing attitude. The model posted a since-deleted Instagram post that featured a picture of Newsom laughing with a group of people at the Palisades Fire base camp in Malibu while standing with his hands in his pockets.

"Why is the Governor of C.A standing around laughing like he’s at a tailgate???" Durham captioned the now-deleted post.

Gardon said in response, "Anyone who’s been through a tragedy knows there are lighthearted moments and moments of sorrow, as the governor has witnessed himself on the ground in Los Angeles over the past three days, meeting countless firefighters, first responders and victims of this tragedy."
